She wore her hair in a low chignon and carried a bright summer bouquet of peonies, poppies, garden roses, and greenery. The groom looked dapper in a gray three-piece suit complete with a light neck tie and a pocket watch. The couple tied the knot seaside under a hand-knit chuppah. After they exchanged vows, guests walked about five minutes to the reception space which was an industrial style space featuring wooden floors, a brick wall, and exposed beams. “Guests were then invited to get all aboard the train for a fun little ride around while they all mingled and drank old fashioneds and lemonades before being dropped back at the reception,” said Jessica of A Brit & A Blonde. Friends and family members also enjoyed local Maine and New England beers during cocktail hour. Guests sat at long banquet tables complete with chevron table runners in crossback chairs. The tables were lined with glass bud vases with snapdragon and tulip arrangements in them.  “Anthony & Christina are true blue wedding DIYers,” Jessica said. “Almost every single detail and décor item was done by them or one of their family or friends.” In lieu of tangible wedding favors, a donation was made to Uncommon Schools. The menu included spring radish slivers, whole grilled arctic char stuffed with fennel and herbs, and quinoa salad with pickled rhubarb. For dessert, guests enjoy a single-tier buttercream cake adorned with a flower, as well as a tower of Whoopie pies! See the full board here.

Hal Stoa

Joanna and Andy were married at Luther Seminary followed by a reception at the Lafayette Club in St. Paul, Minn. on October 18. The bride looked stunning in a fit-and-flare strapless gown with a drop waist and ruffled skirt. She wore her hair wavy and swept to the side and accessorized with a pair of gorgeous drop earrings and a bedazzled hair piece. She carried a romantic bouquet of pink garden roses and black and white anemones, which she pinned her grandmother’s gold hummingbird brooch to. Her ‘maids donned champagne dresses complete with chiffon skirts and beaded bodices. The groom and his men opted for classic black three-piece suits. The pair tied the knot in a traditional church ceremony in front of 240 friends and family members. “We wanted a classic, sophisticated, and romantic wedding,” Joanna said of her inspiration. A reception followed in a glamorous ballroom at the Lafayette Club. “We chose our reception venue not only for the beautiful classic ballroom, but also because of its setting on Lake Minnetonka – Andy loves the lakes,” Joanna said. Guests sat at round tables dressed in white linens and gold chiavari chairs with black napkins and seat cushions. The wedding party sat at a head table facing out towards the guests. “Because we met at the mailboxes, we incorporated a subtle mailbox theme at our wedding, including printing ‘their love story began at the mailbox’ on the backflap of our invitations, decorating our escort cards with postage stamps, and setting out miniature mailboxes with truffles tucked inside for our guests’ favors at the reception (these also served as placecard holders),” Joanna said of the personal touches. After dinner and dancing, the newlyweds cut the glamorous  four-tier white cake, which had a topper reading ‘The Sweetest Day’ on it, to honor the holiday they were married on. Joanna’s best advice for brides? Be patient! “Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find the right hairstyle, makeup, or dress on the first try. These things take time.” See the full board here.

Aside from dancing, guests participated in lawn games such as croquet, hula hoops, and sack races. Tables were covered in gold chevron linens and centerpieces of roses, stock, veronica, and baby’s breath arranged in glass jars and displayed atop tree slices. “We always referred to our wedding, as the ‘Big Day,’ allowing us to focus on the celebration,” Kacie said. Guests enjoyed dinner and indulged in a variety of desserts including a naked cake, lemon rosemary shortbread cookies, and brownie bites!
