These pretty floral creations are not only perfect for place cards, but also for escort cards, favors, or table numbers! We were inspired to create them as floral favors for a girly bridal shower featuring pastel hues and sweet spring blossoms. Make them your own by designing them in your own colors and style!

You will need:

Popsicle sticks or plant markers

Acrylic Paint

White paint pen ( it’s important to use a paint pen, the normal kind won’t work)

Foam paint brush

Flowers

Containers

Step One. Paint the popsicle sticks in a combination of colors that look good together (or match to the flowers).

Step Two. Wait for them to dry (should take only about 5 or 10 minutes)

Step Three. Using the paint pen, write names or table numbers on them.

Step Four. Gather little floral bouquets with each wooden nametag and tie with string before placing in vases.

These are so inexpensive. It was about $5 total for lots of popsicle sticks and a tube of paint, which went really far. They add such a fresh and pretty flair to a wedding event.

From the Bride: 

We met in September 2005 through a mutual friend at work, but it certainly wasn’t love at first sight. Marko, our mutual friend and myself all went out to lunch on my second day of work.  Marko had already been working for the company for two years and had recently been promoted. During the entire lunch he kept talking about his promotion, how he knew all the partners at the company and how he could show me to ropes. I found him completely obnoxious and hardly engaged in the conversation. Since I had determined that I did not like this guy and completely disengaged from the conversation, Marko found me to be quiet. My best friend and I have completely different taste and I figured since I didn’t like Marko, she would. So I tried to set the two of them up at our company holiday party. When it was clear they were not hitting it off I asked her why she didn’t like him. Her response was “Because it is clear he is into you!” No romance bloomed between my best friend and Marko. Two years later in October 2007 Marko and I went out for a Happy Hour drink. One drink turned into two, which turned into dinner, which ended in Marko asking me out on a date. The rest is history as they say!

We were married on a bluff overlooking the ocean and wanted to incorporate that feel into our wedding, from the small shells in the men’s boutonnieres to the bark painted off-white in the ballroom to resemble coral. When I was in high school I worked in a florist shop and since then my favorite flower has been cock’s comb and I really wanted to integrate that into our wedding. Our florist did a wonderful job of creating a cock’s comb “platter” that our cake sat on top of. I wanted the ballroom to feel warm and intimate.

On the day of our wedding, the weather was slightly overcast which made for beautiful pictures! We had over 150 guests of our family and closets friends. I wore my Grandmother’s guarder, which was blue. My grandmother had 10 children and it has become a tradition for the granddaughters to wear the guarder at their weddings. The guarder served as my something blue, old and borrowed. One of my favorite moments was seeing my dad’s face and reaction to seeing me for the first time. I knew he would cry! He made me emotional right before I had to walk down the aisle, but once we walked outside to the ceremony and as soon as I saw Marko,  I felt a peace and calmness come over me. All my nerves dissipated and all I could see was my future husband standing before me beaming from ear to ear.

Marko and I had three requirements that were a must for our wedding: Good friends and family, good food and good music!

Stacked honeycombs will bring a burst of bright, festive energy to your wedding day. They are perfect for centering a table, hanging in bunches or just casually placing around the room. With a quick order of DIY honeycomb paper, it’ll be easy to personalize for your specific color and sizing needs.To design this stacked honeycomb centerpiece:

Step One. Purchase DIY honeycomb paper in your colors. Here is a good {source} for an assortment of the colored paper.

Step Two. Using a bowl or other circular object, cut out shapes. For the stacked centerpiece, use different sized circles and ovals.

Step Three. Use glue or double sided tape to secure the ends of the honeycomb paper together on each side.

Step Four. Begining on one side, fan out your honeycomb working with it to pull into shape.

Step Five. Stack the honeycombs on the center of a circular table for a bright centerpiece, hang from above (if your venue allows), or stack them around the room on shelves, tables and in windowsills for festive accent pieces.

From the Bride: 

It was actually a really nice day for February, no rain or clouds, the sun was out. The evening was a perfect crisp temperature. We had our closest family and friends there, which was about 120 people. Jordan had a lot of friends and family fly in from the East coast so it was a really special occasion to have everyone in one room.

We wanted an intimate venue, more Victorian, not modern.  Something warm and cozy like we were getting married at one of our grandmother’s houses. Twinkle lights hung from the trees of the property of The Victorian; French doors opened up to a patio with chandeliers. Candles, vintage picture frames, and old books were everywhere.  The ceremony area had walls of books that looked like an old library; the cocktail hour was in a bar area that looked like an old parlor.  For the reception, romantic candelight was a must!  

The reception at Real Companhia Velha, a restored wine warehouse, was a modern floral haven.  Incredible florals were absolutely everywhere!

The evening just wasn’t complete without a glam rhinestone-studded cake and geek-chic pacman cupcakes!

From the Bride: In a flat, far away land, called The Netherlands, Juan and I met. At that time I, as a Biomedical Engineer, was building bone, and Juan (Computer Scientist) was building mobile applications. We met amongst friends after a dinner. We exchanged a few words, where I mentioned a geek movie line that caught Juan’s attention. The fact that our birthdays were only a day apart was instrumental to the start of our relationship. The first topic of conversation was trying to organize a common birthday party. The rest is history….

 Juan is a computer passionate person that believes that the planet can be fixed.  He enjoys philosophical discussions in the company of friends and good beer. I am very social, a multi-tasker by nature, enjoy planning a good party!  From the very beginning, we wanted to do something different, something that would reflect our connection but make the guests/family  feel included as well. Typical was not a word we wanted to be associated with our wedding.

  Juan and I are sci-fi fans and we were looking for a way to combine geek references with an elegant, romantic and contemporary wedding atmosphere. The fact that we had so many international guests, really raised the bar high…. And I am all about attention to detail!

For the religious ceremony, we selected the beautiful Monastery Serra do Pilar where the breathtaking views of Porto would certainly please all our guests.  As for the venue, we chose a beautiful old wine warehouse located nearby. We didn’t want the cliché of a wine themed wedding/decoration, so after an intensive research, I found the inspiration I needed. A bundle of used wine corks aligned in the shape of a heart, provided the starting point for everything!

We chose a color palette inspired by the shades seen on corks after they’ve been soaked in wine.  This meant salmon, coral, cherry, lilac, fuchsia pink, violet, plum and purple took center stage. 

 Then, it was time to include our personal touches! A binary wedding date, two different wedding invitations: a traditional one for the family and a computer inspired one for all of our friends, pac man cupcakes, Juan’s Star Trek cufflinks, our ‘Live Long and Prosper’ banner, glow in the dark bracelets, and a book of advices for the bride and groom were included in the day. Next, the most important thing were the services. We were super happy to rely on Sofia and André from Branco Prata! I was thrilled to know that the styling/color scheme I envisioned was going to be in Sofia’s extremely talented  hands and of course, André’s amazing moment-capturing skills would make witness to our day. The remaining suppliers were carefully chosen: from catering to music, everything was selected after an intensive search.

Well, my mother went to offer eggs to Saint Claire hoping  it wouldn’t rain, since we are talking about October….she must have a celestial uplink, because it was 33C! The day was sunny and warm, everyone was delighted with the views from the Monastery.

 Our ceremony was very special. We had the opportunity to exchange symbols that defined us.  In our case, Juan offered me a robot and I offered him a small rooster symbolizing a Portuguese folk legend. Since the Monastery has a different spatial display, the guests were arranged in a circle surrounding us. I believe everyone felt involved in our ceremony even if they couldn’t completely understand the language!

The reception went great, the styling that Sofia did was simply amazing! To avoid confusion, the seating plan was projected on the wall. We hired a Jazz/Bossa Nova band  and a DJ that specialized in songs from our youth.  Everyone (of all ages) had the chance to dance to their favorite genre! We performed two first dances (one with Jazz and another with Pop music) and prepared a funny video with our childhood photos. We had the opportunity to talk to our friends and family and offer them little bottles of a traditional Portuguese liquor and a small box of personalized M&Ms. Our friends and family danced and ate the night away, until the last guest standing left at 6 a.m.

We couldn’t feel more happy  and rewarded for the good memories we were able to offer to our family and friends.

From the Bride:  Marc and I chose to have a destination wedding because we wanted to get married in a beautiful location, surrounded by our closest friends and family. As is almost any day in Hawaii, the weather was sunny and beautiful which made for the most gorgeous back drop for our special day. We broke tradition and spent the morning of our wedding getting coffee and spending time together walking along the beach in Wailea. It was a great way to spend a little time together to reflect on the day to come, before family and guests arrived.

My sister and two of my best friends from Optometry school stood up as bridesmaids.  The ceremony was a
combination of both traditional and Hawaiian elements; we did a lei exchange prior to exchanging vows, we also performed a sand ceremony rather than lighting a unity candle due to the outdoor setting. The vase from the sand ceremony now has a place of honor in our living room, as a reminder of our vows.

After the ceremony, the wedding guests were treated to delicious appetizers and cocktails while we left with our
photographer, Joanna Tano, and headed to Po’olenalena Beach to take some post-ceremony photos. We could not have been more fortunate to have found one of the most beautiful beaches in Maui to be nearly deserted during our photo session.

We joined our guests back at Gannon’s restaurant for an evening of celebration. The food was spectacular! We are still receiving compliments on the food a year and a half later! One of the things that made our wedding and reception so special was that with such a small guest list we were able to spend quality time with everyone. We were so touched at the time and money our guests spent to celebrate our wedding with us. It is a day that we will truly never forget.
