Day Two: NYC Bridal Market Top Ten {Part Two}

no. 6 A Love Letter to New York
It was crisp, clean lines and ‘pure, archetypal shapes’ at Amsale’s presentation of her American Metropolitan-inspired collection. Dress design, ‘distilled to its essence’ couldn’t be more exquisite, agreed?
no. 7 Print Obsession
I’m totally, utterly, and completely in love with these silk chiffon print dresses by Amsale… They are feminine and floaty all the while perfectly modern and chic. I can’t get enough!

no. 8 Crystallized Beauty
If you’ve never gotten up close and personal with a Rivini gown, I’d run (not walk) to the nearest retailer that offers this line. These are the kind of dresses that move like water and glisten like stars… For Fall 2013, designer Rita Vinieres worked with translucent layers and crystal embellishments to design a collection that ‘…feels like a snowflakes on ice… fragile and unique…’ The fronts (and the backs) of these dresses are equally incredible.
no. 9 Siren Silhouettes
Good golly these Kenneth Pool gowns are gorgeous. Designer, Amsale Aberra, kicked up the thermostat a few notches with silhouettes inspired by passion, drama, and seductive glamour. It was a delightful contrast to the tailored look of her namesake collection, something for every bride!
no. 10 Platinum Perfection
Day two wasn’t complete without a stop at Watters! Since just about everything in my closet is grey (sort of kidding), I couldn’t help but fall head over heels for this platinum mermaid fit gown and ‘gilded’ gemstone veil.

Day Two: NYC Bridal Market Top Ten {Part One}

Day two in New York was chock full of incredible shows… it’s feels impossible to pick just ten of the highlights. Alas, it must be done… my job, sometimes, is incredibly difficult ♥
no. 1 Sheer Beauty + Pleated Tulle
Reem Acra’s presentation was one of my absolute favorites of the weekend. Featuring edgy, embroidered illusion gowns and innovative pleated veils, it was one stunner after another on the runway.
no. 2 Gone Green Couture
This season, Romona Keveza gave going green a whole new meaning. Her couture evening gowns were featured in pastel, lime, and shades of apple and she even pushed the envelope with a fresh mint bridal ballgown!

no. 3 Claire’s Paradise
Oh Claire, how I love you and your gorgeous gowns… For Fall 2013, the celebrated Claire Pettibone unveiled a collection of earthly delights made for the modern goddess. Spending an hour in Claire’s Garden of Eden was, without a doubt, a highlight of the weekend!

no. 4 Reveling in Romantic Luxury at St. Pucchi
Luxe laces, ostrich feather embellishments, and vertical pleating elements had me reveling in romance during my stop at St. Pucchi. Here are three favorites from the new collection by designer Rani Totman.
no. 5 Awe-Inspired at Monique
There was one moment during the entire weekend that absolutely took my breath away… it was in the last minutes of Monique Lhuillier’s fairytale runway show. Over a dozen models lined up in the new gowns…dream dresses of silk, lace and tulle in Monique’s signature feminine style. The collection, the ambiance… everything was pure magic!
Stay Tuned for Part Two…

A Country Chic Real Wedding by Joey Houle Photography
Posted on October 17th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Jared and Katie, this sweet-as-can-be-couple, are huge country music fans. In fact, they even gleaned inspiration from the wedding of two hot country music artists, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. The vision was to marry in a barn setting with boots on. Adorned with a modern palette of vibrant corals, country met chic for this distinctive wedding at Delta Diamond Farm in Isleton, California. Joey Houle captured the rustic dream come true in light and airy photographs….
Each bridesmaid selected her own dress from Macy’s or Forever 21; I love how they alternated pink and coral to give the palette natural variation and dynamic. The girls cozied up for portraits against the draped barn backdrop, where the ceremony would take place.
Katie met Jared while visiting her Aunt in Montana. At the time, he was living there, but after falling hard for Katie, he moved to be closer to her. On their family-focused wedding day, loved ones came together to help them pull off a charming barn party- complete with darling DIY centerpieces, pink candy, and pies for dessert!
It just doesn’t get any sweeter than that…
Sending love-filled wedding wishes to Jared & Katie!

no. 6 A Play of Fabric + Texture
At the always-anticipated Douglas Hannant show, we saw a rich play of fabric and textured details. Below: A stunning cream moiré mermaid gown with embroidered and beaded bodice and sleeves
no. 7 Ballgowns Done Beautifully by Lazaro
This season there were dozens and dozens of ballgowns featured on the runway, but Lazaro’s full-skirted beauties are always like a dream…layers of tulle straight from a fantasy…
no. 8 Runway Trend: Sheer
Haley Paige pushed the envelope this market with two very transparent, made-for-the-runway looks. They received quite the response, and, at the end of the presentation, Haley was wildly applauded for her artistry.
no. 9 Blooming Elegance
As if the Marchesa collection could get any more gorgeous, the cascade of luscious, oversized blooms catapults this gown right into our top ten!
no. 10 Bridesmaids Go Bold
Last but not least, I love the bold hues I’m seing for bridesmaids! Here are four looks from the JLM Runway- the final show of day one.
