* An Eclectic Fall Wedding by Rebekah Westover Photography {Part Two}

Continued from {Part One} - Photos by Rebekah Westover

After taking their vows at The Salt Lake Temple,  the newlyeds and their closeknit group of guests retreated to the Memorial House in Memory Grove.   During the spring and summer months, Becca and Jason would ride bikes to Memory Grove every Sunday and spend the afternoon picnicking and watching all of the dogs play. They fell in love with the area, and once they discovered the venue, it was a must for the reception!

The handmade décor was a labor of love.  Inspired by Anthropologie-esque repurposing of common materials into kitschy, creative décor items,  the couple salvaged glass bottles for centerpieces, utilized vintage sheet music for table runners, and pinned seating assignments on an antique dress form.  Roots prettied up the displays with a palette of autumn florals, tying it all together. Grace Harvell, of The Graceful Baker, prepared the dreamiest and most delicious, three-tiered carrot cake that Becca, Jason, and their guests had ever tasted!

As we sit and soak in all of the creativity, we’re wishing these two a lifetime of love…

* An Eclectic Fall Wedding by Rebekah Westover Photography {Part One}

A wedding of two creative types always yields some serious inspiration, and Becca and Jason’s wedding was no exception.  The two met way back in the first grade and went all the way up thru high school together.  But it wasn’t until years later, when Becca was living in San Francisco and Jason in Idaho, that the two fell in love over long distance.  Becca is a contemporary ballet dancer, while Jason is an entrepreneur and graphic designer; together they designed a day that focused on their connection with close friends and family. They made use of November’s eclectic fall palette and created loads of charming décor for their Salt Lake City celebration.  These photos evoke such joy- a big thanks to Rebekah Westover for sharing them with us!

Head over to part two…

* Classic Beauty in Washington D.C. by Abby Jiu Photography

Posted on January 8th, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Melanie and Mohsin’s D.C. wedding is a true dose of classic beauty.  The couple met while attending law school at the University of Richmond, and now, working as attorneys, they reside in Northern Virginia. Marrying just across the street from the White House at The Hay-Adams, the couple used their adoration of the city as inspiration.  Without further ado, dive into this post of exquisite photos by Abby Jiu Photography.

Those bridal portraits are absolutely breathtaking, no?  Melanie wore a soft and romantic Rivini gown, and adorned her look with a fur bolero and embellished veil.  A crimson bridal bouquet of dahlias and garden roses by Sidra Forman radiated rich autumn colors.  The fall foliage was at its peak, and Lafayette Park was the  perfect backdrop for photos. The ceremony took place at 11:30 in the morning and was followed by a brunch reception complete with a jazz band.

With the capitol as their inspiration, a city skyline element was brought into the programs and table décor.  They couldn’t resist tying the law in somehow, so each of their tables was named after a Supreme Court justice!  Simply Chic Events implemented the classic palette of red and ivory with black accents with fresh style, and Abby Jiu captured it naturally and beautifully.

After an afternoon of music and great food,  the celebration continued into the evening with a party at The Hamilton.  The couple was sent off in style, with Melanie changing into a darling Kate Spade frock.

Wishing these two all the beauty and happiness in the world!

* Cozy Thanksgiving Wishes…

Posted on November 22nd, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Announcements.

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope your weekend is as cozy as this darling photo by our friends at Paper Antler!

Speaking of- a shoutout:  Johnny and Michelle of PA have spent the last year on a photography/charity project called the Fifty Nifty, and I’ve been following their journey in awe and admiration the whole way thru.  On this day of gratitude, it seems so fitting to give a quick update on their progress.  For 2012, Paper Antler set out to photograph fifty weddings in fifty states, donating $1,000 from each wedding directly to She Dances- an incredible charity that supports an anti-trafficking, holistic safehouse for young girls and women in Honduras.  The goal was $50,000 and they are almost there.  To help them complete their generous and inspiring mission (just $3,000 to go)  head here to offer your support. There is just beauty inside and out in this industry. ♥

Wishing you a truly wonderful holiday weekend.
