Laura and Daniel were married at the groom’s parent’s backyard in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada on September 14. ”We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and fun,” Laura said. The bride wore a sweetheart lace a-line wedding gown with a keyhole back, accessorized with an ivory sash and fingertip-length veil, while the groom kept it casual with a white button-up shirt, vest, dark-washed jeans, accessorized with no tie. Notice her cowboy boots? Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched short mint green and teal dresses and carried bouquets of roses, berries, eucalyptus seeds, and baby’s breath. Fun fact: All of the floral arrangements were created by Quik Pik Flowers, where Laura works. “I wanted the ceremony backdrop to be of the mountains and open field because those are two things that we really love being surrounded by,” she said. “All 165 of our guests were people we were so happy to be surrounded with.” Following, guests were directed to the tented reception through a pair of repurposed barn doors and escorted to their seats via cards on clothespins. In lieu of a traditional guest book, well wishes were written on pieces of paper and placed inside a metal watering can. Tables were decorated with white linens, burlap runners, mason jar centerpieces atop wooden slices, chalkboard table numbers, and family photos. “We had an open mic, which was very successful and brought out a lot of great improvisational speeches that were so heartwarming,” Laura said. Later on, the newlyweds performed a special dance to “Proud Mary.” And they got it on video too! See the full board here.

Angel + Jerry: A Whimsical Pastel Summer Wisconsin Backyard Wedding By Laurelyn Savannah Photography

Angel and Jerry were married at the bride’s parent’s home in Fennimore, Wis. on June 22. ”The inspiration for the wedding actually came a lot from Pinterest,” Angel said. “I chose a pastel color scheme of pinks, whites, creams, and a little bit of greens and purples.” The bride wore a blush dropped waist wedding gown with a beaded bodice, accessorized with no shoes in lieu for henna, while the groom wore a pale blue button-up shirt, gray pants, suspenders, and a skull bow tie. Bridesmaids wore white long chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of baby’s breath. Guests were directed to the backyard ceremony with a wooden arrow sign post and greeted with a chalkboard sign that encouraged to pick a seat not a side. ”OH MY! It was beautiful, the sun was out, the birds were chirping, and both the best man and maid of honor forgot the rings,” she said. “Thankfully, we didn’t have to go far.” To symbolize their unity, the couple chose to do a handfast in front of a paper crane altar arrangement. ”Afterwards, we had enough time to snap a couple of photos before one of the biggest rain storms of the year hit,” Angel said. The tented reception was decorated with lace balloons and cafe string lights from the ceiling, but the tables were decorated with white linens, vintage china, and tree stump centerpieces that featured pillar candles. Our favorite detail? The ice cream bar with all the toppings! Yum. See the full board here.

Katelin and Justin were married in the bride’s parent’s backyard in Mulberry Grove, Ill. last summer. ”We were inspired by the location of our wedding,” Katelin said. “My parents property is absolutely beautiful. The old barn brings such a great rustic feel, and the pond and waterfall that my parents built along with all of the flowers they planted made it feel even more romantic.” The bride wore her mother’s vintage wedding gown, accessorized with a pair of amethyst stud earrings, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a striped tie. ”I wanted all of the flowers in our wedding to look like wildflowers,” she said. “My bouquet was freshly-picked and was hand-tied with burlap and a patterned scarf.” Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a private first look. ”It was such an intimate moment that I am glad we were able to share with one another,” she said. Guests were greeted with a chalkboard sign that said, “As two families become one, we ask that you choose a seat not a side.” A tree planting was performed to symbolize their unity too. ”The ceremony was perfect,” Katelin said. “It was so amazing for us to have all of those we love most be a part of our wedding day.” The reception was held underneath a tent. Tables were decorated with white linens, wood slice candles, and mason jar centerpieces complete with dried arrangements. The newlyweds performed their first dance to “More Than Life” by Whitley and spent the night in a teepee! See the full board here.

Lauren and Drew were married at the groom’s parents home along the Severn River in Annapolis, Md. last spring. ”We truly felt that our wedding day was not just a celebration of each other, but also for everyone who made us into the couple we are today,” Lauren said. The bride wore a v-neck mermaid wedding gown with a beaded bodice and tulle skirt, accessorized with a floral wreath in her sideswept ponytail, while the groom wore a navy blue suit, accessorized with a striped tie and pair of Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes. Bridesmaids wore short coral dresses in various fabrics and carried bouquets of hydrangeas. Believe it or not — Lauren arrived to the ceremony on a boat — and 220 guests were in attendance when the couple said their, “I do’s.” Afterwards, a bagpiper led the recessional into the tent. Tables were decorated with gray linens and tall floral centerpieces, signature spiked lemonade and watermelon mojito cocktails and seafood fare were served, and crab mallet favors were at each place setting. There even was fun, games, (and candy) for the kids! Notice the goodie bags? A long night of dancing with provided flip flops ended with a sparkler send off and safe travels to their African safari honeymoon. See the full board here.
