Samantha and Travis were married at The Venue at the Grove in Phoenix, Ariz.. on September 21. The couple met through a mutual friend at an intramural flag football game in graduate school. After a year of dating, Travis proposed to her on a cliff overlooking the ocean during a surprise trip to Mexico. How romantic! Samantha wore a sweetheart ruched mermaid wedding gown, accessorized with diamond necklace, earrings, and bracelet, while her bridesmaids wore fit ‘n’ flare lace dresses. “During the ceremony, we chose to do a foot washing as our ‘unity activity,'” she said. “This was particularly meaningful to us as it represented our commitment to loving and serving one another in the way that we believe that Jesus loves us.” Guests enjoyed lawn games during cocktail hour, and the brick oven pizza that they could eat until their stomachs were full. Tables were decorated with bowls of peaches, gold glitter votives, and books. The dessert bar was filled with his and her favorites — Dippin’ Dots and chocolate glazed donuts. Happy Yellow Brisbane Wedding by Mihaja Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Mike and Merryn married on New Year’s Eve 2011 in Brisbane.  They were inspired  by the 1960’s style depicted in the TV series ‘Mad Men;’ yellow with deep purple was the bold and happy colour theme.  (These oversized balloons are my fave)!  Mihaja Photography perfectly captured the moments, emotions and quirky details of this special day.

The couple met when Mike moved into Merryn’s share house in Brisbane in 2004. Mike says he knew there was something special about her from the moment he met her. They used to stay up late on Friday nights drinking red wine, chatting and listening to music, then falling asleep on the couch together. In 2008, they moved to London for six months, but six months soon turned into three years!

Mike describes the wedding proposal: “On our seven year anniversary, I surprised Merryn with a dinner at Kensington Roof Gardens. I had created a hand made book with each page illustrating a different reason why I love her so much…. the last few pages did all the hard work!”

Merryn wore a custom gown by Dolly Couture, even her dress and shoes had adorable yellow accents (swoon)!   Above, she poses with her charming wedding party attendants.  The ceremony took place at the Roma Street Parklands, where those happy yellow balloons were poised amongst the trees.

After the ceremony, the wedding party indulged in a slew of fun-filled portrait sessions, then headed over to the Victoria Park Golf Course for the party.

So presh, right?!

Thanks very much to Mike and Merryn for lighting up our week!

xoxo

Angelica + Ben’s Whimsical DIY Day
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Angelica and Ben’s wedding is one of those that is so uniquely and genuinely a reflection of the bride and groom… When you get right down to it, that’s what every couple wants in their wedding day. Although, this kind of of imbued personalization comes from a lot of time, attention, and energy on behalf of the couple.  Angelica and Ben did just that… countless hours were spent on the decorations, the dress.. it was a day of love-filled planning and Something Pretty.
The invitations were made from custom watercolor portraits by etsy vendor, Caitlin Shearer.  Below, Angelica’s feminine, basque-waisted dress… made by the bride!!!

Pink and metallic fringe adorned the entryway… all the paper décor was DIY.The bridal party looked ethereal and so feminine in chiffon Bari Jay frocks and floral wreaths.  The ceremony took place outdoors, on a lush, wide open piece of land in Virginia.  Angelica and Ben wed in front of a tipi, handmade by the bride’s sisters!Angelica had her colorful ukelele on hand to play a song during the ceremony;  dozens of glass vases held single flowers showing their faces to the sun.

So much handmade love

Congratulations Angelica & Ben!
