Noir et Blush: Santosha’s Boudoir-Inspired Real Wedding
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

What a special week this is… today is the second day in a row that I’ve gotten to share weddings from our fabulous PW community!  (Interested in having your wedding featured?  Find out more here…) Micaela – aka Santosha– is a Project Wedding hostess that is constantly inspiring… she met her beloved, Marc, thru a mutual friend a year before they started dating.  At the time, they were living an ocean away (she, in Edmonton, he, in London), until a romantic train getaway and a stolen kiss started it all… After six years together Micaela and Marc married in Edmonton, finding inspiration for their wedding in boudoir and avant-garde styling; the décor featured black lace, feathers, skeleton keys, and rococo patterns. Micaela dreamed of an edgy, modern wedding that made a statement.

Micaela scoured the web searching for inspiration, which she found easily in things like luxurious satin corsets, burlesque costumes, and film noir still shots.  The hard part was finding resources to bring her unique vision to life.  Thus, she went all-out DIYing everything from the bouquets to the centerpieces to the cake topper.  JAG Photography captured their wow wedding style in this striking set of sexy photos!

Back to that romantic train ride… After they met through a mutual friend, Micaela and Marc shared back and forth emails, random phone calls, and witty banter online until Marc asked Micaela to accompany him on a train ride through the Canadian Rockies. Their connection was sparked against the surreal and breathtaking backdrop.  Eventually Marc moved from his home in East London to Edmonton to be with Micaela!

The reception was completely unique, unlike any I’ve ever seen.  The Art Gallery of Alberta was adorned with bold striped tablecloths, candles, angels, and black, white and blush everything.  Although Micaela spent hundreds of hours designing the celebration, the Day-of Coordination by Sofia Morgadinho of Awespiring Weddings was crucial.

Pink sweets by Crave topped off the event….  A special thanks to Micaela for being such a fabulous, dedicated hostess and to both Micaela and Marc for sharing their incredible photos with us!

Chic Hawaii Wedding by Joanna Tano Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

When I saw these photos, I completely fell in love with this beaming, happy couple.  The bride, Gabriella, grew up in Maui and always dreamed of having her wedding there. She met Zach when they were freshman in college at Northeastern University in Boston.   It was love at first sight for Zach, but it took a few years for Gabriella to fall head over heels.  Here’s a peek at their barefoot beach wedding and chic, candlelit reception.  {Photos by  Joanna Tano Photography}.The couple wanted the ceremony and reception to be an organic reflection of the Hawaiian landscape and their modern style.  Gabriella wore a sophisticated, beach-casual dress by Judd Waddell; the groom was adorned by a gorgeous leigh of greenery.  The breezy sunset ceremony on the beach was followed by a full moon gathering at a private residence.  I’m in awe of the incredible candlelight and chic black and white tablescapes…

Isn’t the black and white palette just so stunning?!

Sweet wishes to this lovely pair!

Modern-Vintage Winter Wedding by Shandro Photo
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Hold your horses… just because it’s officially springtime (YAY)!… doesn’t mean that we don’t have one more winter wedding to show off before we dive headfirst into the season.  With the vintage-glam guinea fowl feather accents and the sharp, perfectly matched wedding party wardrobe, this one had to be shared.  Mackenzie and Ian were married on the weekend of her grandparent’s 66th wedding anniversary, and a winter wonderland in Edmonton, AB, Canada was the setting for their intimate wedding.  Shandro Photo was there to document their modern-vintage day!The wedding party wardrobe is so fun!  I love the sleek black attire with the Guinea fowl-esque polka dot accessories.  It’s just the right amount of matchiness and just terribly charming! The bouquets and boutonnieres featured winter white blooms, berries for a pop of color, and the themed feathers.  The bride designed and planned the entire day and clearly, she has a knack for vintage styling in a fresh, contemporary way!

The evening wasn’t complete without a photo session out in the pristine, new fallen snow.

Big congratulations to Mackenzie and Ian!

Stunning Shades of Grey.
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

We certainly have a love of all things colorful, but when these black and white (and all the shades of grey) wedding photos came across our desks… there was something so magical.  Of course, the bride and groom are as photogenic as can be, the mastery of Andrew Thomas Clifton was behind the camera, and the day, styled with simple loveliness.

Amy and John had a midsummer wedding in Huntsville, Alabama.

The ceremony took place at Big Spring Park, overlooking a Koi fish pond.

After a photoshoot of stunning contrasts, they headed indoors for a Creole-inspired reception at the Children’s Museum

Hope you enjoy this knock-your-socks-off album… we sure did
