Artsy-Chic Brooklyn Engagement by Amber Gress Photography {Part 1}
Posted by Kate. Filed under Engagements, Photography, Things we heart

We pride ourselves in being avid admirers of the exceptionally creative. So when we spotted Colin and Masha’s colorful, cocktail-making engagement session- set in an intimate backyard garden in Brooklyn, naturally- we jumped at the opportunity to share. A supremely talented watercolor illustrator, Masha created the save the dates that inspired the shoot. The playful nature of the pair comes through in her lush painting style and in the uniquely charming details of the session. Did we mention how incredibly beautiful they both are?  They’re radiating some gorgeous inner love light, big time. Get ready to swoon over these photographs styled by Jenna Cantagallo and captured by Amber Gress!

Model/actor Colin served his bride-to-be a refreshing “love potion” cocktail (St. Germain, gin, tonic water, pomegranate seeds, and a mint garnish) in vintage wine glasses hand-dipped in gold by Jenna.  Sarah Dorkin whipped up darling heart shaped cookies to satisfy the couple’s sweet tooth, and Kelly of 2h Flowers peppered their vintage chic tablescape with aster and gomphrena blooms. A self-professed style maven, Masha complimented her ravishing red, flamenco-style frock with gilded flower bobby pins and her stunning cluster engagement ring.

Artsy Brooklyn Real Wedding by Katie Osgood
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

What a treat it is to feature the wedding of a couple of very talented creative types…  Clara and Dave went all out designing and creating a funky, artistic wedding in Brooklyn that was totally, perfectly them.  After looking at venues that were not quite their style, Clara and Dave found the Galapagos Art Space and fell in love.  Armed with two pantone colors, Clara began the search for the perfect papers, inks, stamps, flowers, and accessories that would become the expression of both her and Dave’s vision. The DIY element of this wedding is so impressive; we’re delighted to share this unique set of photos by Katie Osgood Photography!

Clara, a graphic designer by trade, dreamed up an entire suite of modern paper goods;  she also made the boutonnieres and bow-ties, and with a little help from a good friend, executed the rest of the florals. We just love the awesome candy apple red that gave this modern, urban wedding a distinctive look.

Dave and his pals did the full reception setup the morning of, before fancying up in suits and Clara’s handmade bow-ties!  Dave also designed and set up a DIY photo booth- they used their iMac to capture, frame and print photo booth favors for guests to take home.

The ceremony took place in front of the scenic Brooklyn Bridge (and their addition of colorful balloons and paper flowers), in Brooklyn Bridge Park.  Perfectly worded and officiated by their dear friend/roommate/florist extraordinaire, the ceremony was extra special- filled with laughter and tears.

After enjoying the breeze on an oddly warm October day in New York, everyone headed over to the Galapagos Art Space for the party!  Even the guestbook was brilliantly thought up-  they created a large puzzle out of one of their engagement photos.  Friends and family wrote well wishes on the backs of the pieces, and the kids had a blast piecing it together at the reception.

The gem that is the Galapagos Art Space is a rockin’ party spot.  Guests danced under colorful lanterns, and came back to Earth for an incredible piece of Lady M Confections cake and a scoop of organic ice cream from the Blue Marble Ice Cream cart.  All this creativity has us sooo inspired!  Make sure to see the full spread of photos here.

Real Wedding-Sherien + Randy

Can I just say that I love Angelica Glass and her amazing skills of a photographer.  She has a way of capturing “true expressions” from her subjects, not to mention the vibrant colors that she exhibits…oh the colors!

Sherien and Randy chose a different approach to their wedding.  They opted to have a private, intimate wedding ceremony the day before their reception.  Doing this allowed them to hold a beautiful all day celebration including customs from both the bride’s and the groom’s heritage.  The couple’s inspiration for this unique celebration came from intertwining their two cultures, including choosing bright Arabian colors that would “pop” for the decor as well as combining music styles and cuisines from both The Dominican Republic and Egypt.  This is a gorgeous wedding!  Thank you Sherien and Randy, and Congratulations!

See for yourself how beautiful Brooklyn can be in August…..
