Yvonne and Kevin were married at Airship 37 in Toronto, Canada on August 16. The bride looked radiant in her strapless lace gown with a scalloped neckline and off-white sash. She donned her hair in a messy chic updo and carried a bouquet of roses, freesia, seeded eucalyptus, mums, and hypericum berries. For the Chinese tea ceremony, the bride opted for a traditional red silk dress with gold embroidery. The groom looked handsome in a dark blue vested suit with a light purple button down shirt and striped neck tie. For the tea ceremony he donned silk attire with red designs on it. The day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony as a nod to the bride’s heritage. A ceremony followed in an industrial loft with purple uplighting. The 130 family members and friends sat in silver chiavari chairs which were uniquely arranged in a spiral. Pink circle garlands hung from the ceiling, which her friends tirelessly worked on making. Photos of the couple throughout their relationship hung from the wall by clothespins and bright flowers were arranged in white painted bottles throughout the space, as well as bamboo, which is significant in both the bride and groom’s culture. After vows were exchanged, a reception followed at the same location. “We wanted to create a really fun day that reflected our personalities and interests. We both love playing word games, so we incorporated various scrabble elements,” Yvonne said of the decor. In lieu of a traditional guestbook guests signed quilt squares. Family and friends sat at tables with white linens and Scrabble-inspired table numbers and colorful flowers in clear vases. “We set up dominoes and mah-jong tables for our guests to play after dinner,” Yvonne said of the guest entertainment. Both Yvonne and Kevin’s heritages were represented in the guest’s favors, which consisted of Jamaican rum cake and tea in a Chinese take-out box. Guests also got to indulge in a four-tier butter cream frosting cake adorned with colorful flowers. Yvonne’s wedding advice is plain and simple, “Don’t do anything you don’t want to do.” See the full board here.

Her ‘maids opted for floor-length deep blue one-shoulder dresses. The groom and his men looked dapper in classic black tuxes. The pair exchanged vows in a light-filled tent outside in front of just 75 guests. “We wanted a small wedding, close to our home. It was recommended to us by another couple because the food is amazing!” Kimberly said of the wedding venue. A reception followed inside the golf and country club, where guests sat at round tables covered in crisp white linens. They were greeted at their seats by a thank you note on navy blue stationery and tulip centerpieces. Kimberly’s favorite DIY detail? The re-purposed wine bottle chalkboards used as table numbers. Lisa Marie and Selim were married at Kretz Estates in Burlington, Ontario, Canada on June 14. The bride wore a gorgeous flowy dress with a beaded bodice and chiffon skirt. It was handmade from fabrics found at the grand bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. She donned a high curly updo accented with crystal hair pins and carried a large bouquet of purple roses and greenery. Her ‘maids looked stunning in mix-and-match deep v-neck dresses. The bridal party also had their hands painted in henna to honor Selim’s Turkish heritage. The groom looked dapper in a gray three-piece suit, while his men wore gray dress pants, suspenders, and purple bow ties. The pair tied the knot in front of 100 family members and friends that traveled a great distance from many places to be with them on their special day. They exchanged vows under an arch made of branches and adorned with bright flowers and white tulle fabric. A reception followed at the estates. “We hand made our wedding ourselves from our wedding favors, bouquets, center pieces, wedding arch, invitations…It was really lovely getting to be so involved and have the little details be exactly how we pictured,” Lisa Marie described. Their reception decor featured a display of Polaroid pictures of the newlyweds, paper lanterns, and a big wire heart topped with flowers and a photo of the couple’s engagement. Guests sat at long tables with white linens, brown place mats, tiny birdcages, and chalkboard table numbers set inside mini succulent tins. “We found a lot of inspiration through Instagram and Pinterest , we fell in love with the more bohemian/DIY weddings,” Lisa Marie says of their wedding inspiration.  For dessert, guests indulged in a cupcake-shaped cake decorated with white rosettes and purple polka dots. Lisa Marie encourages DIY projects, but not too many. “Pinterest is a great source for inspiration, however thinking you can complete X number of projects on your own is somewhat wishful thinking,” she said. Tricia + Adam: Gray and Pale Orange Summer Winery Wedding by Lyn Ismael: Evocative Imagery of Love Stories

Tricia and Adam were married at Holland Marsh Winery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on September 1. Tricia looked gorgeous in a ruched chiffon fit ‘n flare gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline. Her colorful bouquet featured coral and apricot roses, purple pincushions, blue delphinium, anemones, Queen Anne’s lace, dusty miller, brunia berries, and pittosporum. Her ‘maids donned long purple-gray chiffon dresses with various necklines. The groom and his men opted for a more casual look in light gray suits and lavender button-down shirts, without ties. The pair married outside as 140 guests looked on in white folding chairs. “For us, it was very important that our wedding was filled with things that we loved and reflected who we were as people,” Tricia said. “We didn’t want to end up doing things just because ‘That’s the way it’s always been done at weddings.'” The ceremony featured a drink station with a large chalkboard sign, where guests could grab flavored water on the way to watch the couple tie the knot. The aisle was marked with hydrangeas, roses, and Queen Anne’s lace. A reception followed at the winery, where guests sat at round tables featuring floral centerpieces in mason jars atop wood slices. “We had a conversation and listed all of the things that we loved and hated about weddings that we’d been to,” Tricia said. “Then we just kept all of the things that we loved, and chucked the things that we hated. With that, we had the perfect blueprint for our day.” Guests were given shoes for the dance floor and indulged in a sparkly tiered cake made by the bride’s aunt, adorned with a custom topper. “Remember that if you’re happy, then all those who love you will be happy too,” Tricia said.
