Alexis and Josh were married at The Glendale Lyceum in Glendale, Ohio on May 24. “We were having an outdoor ceremony in May, in Ohio, who knows what the weather would be like at that time?” Alexis said. “We had a very solid backup plan in case it rained, but no bride wants to have to do that. All week everyone kept asking if I looked at the weather, and I kept responding ‘No, I am not looking until Thursday night.’ It ended up being a perfect day!” The bride wore a strapless tulle ball gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long yellow chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of peonies, roses, and stocks. “I would not change a single thing about my wedding. Well, except for the groom’s and groomsmen’s socks. They were The University of Michigan socks, and I am an Ohio State fan,” she said. Following the proceedings, the reception took place inside the tea room. Tables were decorated with gray linens, navy blue napkins, tall floral centerpieces atop mirrors, and homemade buckeye ball favors at each place setting. “I graduated college with an art studio and art education degree, so I knew I would be coming up with a lot of the details myself,” she said. “My husband however is very traditional, so I knew we would have to incorporate both of our personalities in the wedding. I knew I wanted bright colors and a very ‘spring-like’ feel.” Next to the gifts and cards, guests were encouraged to sign a book filled with photos, and were showcased on a map of exactly where they traveled from. The newlyweds performed their first dance to “Amazed” by Lonestar, and exited amongst a sea of sparklers at the end of the night, ready for their honeymoon in Jamaica. “Not worrying about anything allowed me to enjoy marrying my best friend and really appreciate him and the people around me,” Alexis said.
