Fashion Friday: 5 Supremely Flattering Necklines
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Bridal Fashion, Bridal Market Spring 2014, Wedding Dress

After polling on Facebook and Twitter, the answer is clear: when it comes to wedding gowns, PW brides place more emphasis on the neckline than the skirt. It makes sense, too—while we’re all about a gorgeous gown, at the end of the day it’s more important that you look gorgeous in it! And the best way to do that is with pretty details up top that draw attention to your face. Here, we’ve rounded up 5 of the most flattering necklines we know, all with examples from the latest runway collections. Enjoy!

1. High Neck Halter

Sophisticated brides, take note—high neck halters are an elegant way way to highlight sculpted shoulders and firm upper arms. The gathering of fabric at the neck also leads people’s eyes straight to your smile. Gowns (left to right): Lazaro and Temperely London.

2. Deep V

The plunging V is a great look for lither ladies who want to show off great posture and beautiful clavicle bones. We love this sexy statement for smaller-chested brides—just remember the double-sided tape! Or opt for a gown with mesh netting to hold everything in place, like the Berta gown on the right. Gowns: Anne Barge and Berta.

3. Illusion V

The Illusion V is a beautiful compromise for brides who want the support of straps but the bareness of a bustier/sweetheart gown.  Lace, appliques, and other details draw eyes upwards, while the plunge discretely creates a bit of cleavage. Gowns: Christos and Tara Keely. Read the rest of this entry »

Fashion Friday: 4 Reasons to Love Illusion Straps
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Bridal Fashion, Bridal Market Spring 2014

Fanciful bead work and embroidery were two major trends we spotted on the Spring 2014 runway, and we especially loved the way it showed up on sheer fabric. We’ve already covered illusion necklines,  and today we’re zeroing in on a smaller amount of fabric. Substantial illusion straps add just enough sparkle to otherwise simple gowns, and we love the way the look subtly draws attention to the bride’s face. Below follows four of our favorite varieties of the look!

Look to Love: The Sheer Corset
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Bridal Fashion, Bridal Market Spring 2014

Call it the Pnina Tornai effect—corsets are coming up sheer and sexy for Spring! We saw plenty of exposed boning on the runway this season, and we think the look is great for the bride who wants to show off her hard-earned wedding figure. More trends we noticed: draped backs, illusion necklines, modern peplums, and the Carrie Bradshaw flower corsage.

Is the Carrie Bradshaw Flower Corsage Making a Comeback?
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Bridal Fashion, Bridal Market Spring 2014

From nameplate necklaces to Manolo Blahnik mania, Sex & the City kicked off many trends in both the fashion and bridal worlds. Feminine and flirty, one our favorite Carrie Bradshaw looks was the flower corsage she pinned to belts, lapels, and everything in-between. Many designers showed blooms pinned at the waist for Spring 2014, and we couldn’t be more happy that the style just might be making a comeback. It’s the perfect something extra for a spring ceremony, don’t you think?
