Laura and Jessica were married at the Veranda Beach House in Manhattan Beach, Calif. on May 31. “Our inspiration was to make our wedding a huge bash to celebrate having all of our loved ones in the same room, sharing our joy as we married. Everything was planned with that spirit in mind,” Laura said. One bride wore a lace a-line wedding gown with capped sleeves, accessorized with a pair of pink cut-out booties, while the other bride wore a gray suit, accessorized with a pair of sneakers. The wedding color scheme featured “wisteria purple and celadon green, borrowing from the succulents that dotted our floral arrangements, and coral orange, reminiscent of the inside of a conch shell to pay homage to our beachside nuptials,” she said. Guests were greeted with a repurposed window panel that said, “Welcome, friends. Meet us in the garden,” and given “Yippie” and “Hooray” flags to wave. Laura walked down the aisle to Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition,” and Jessica walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” During the ceremony, the couple sealed love letters and a bottle of wine into a box, not to be opened until their fifth anniversary. The newlyweds’ best advice? “My best piece of advice is that you don’t have to be conventional – be unique!” Laura said. “Don’t want to do a bouquet toss? Toss lottery tickets! Don’t want to have a wedding cake? Get cake pops! Want to think outside the box? Use unconventional music choices, incorporate pops of color and statement jewelry, do things your own way and don’t let anyone else color in your vision of your perfect wedding but you and your partner.” Escort cards were attached to boxes of chocolates, which also served double-duty as favors, tables were decorated with wooden box centerpieces and lanterns, and the numbers included fun facts. “While we incorporated many sophisticated elements in our design, we never wanted the evening to feel stuffy or the decorations over the top,” she said. “We were so thrilled to have achieved the perfect balance of classy decor with a joyful and light touch, all rolled into the biggest party our guests had ever experienced!” See the full board here.

Meaghann + Darren: An Edgy Tattoo-Inspired California Military Wedding By Viera Photographics

Meaghann and Darren were inspired by old Navy Sailor Jerry tattoos for their edgy wedding at Moniker Warehouse in San Diego, Calif. Her red-sashed bridal shoes alone were covered in anchors and skulls! “We wanted our reception to look like a modern take on vintage, vampy, rustic, and industrial all rolled into one,” said Meaghann. “To say we were thrilled with the floral design would be an understatement.” Wooden crate lighting, ladders, and draped fabric were hung from the ceiling, and tablescapes were decorated with lush centerpieces filled fiddlehead ferns. Meaghann switched her Anne Barge lace mermaid ceremony gown and birdcage veil for a pair of red lips at her reception. Guests enjoyed a variety of mixed cuisine, including “sushi, Indian favorites, pasta, and more.” Instead of a wedding cake, the couple chose to have a made-to-order crepe station. Strawberry, blueberries, or blackberries, perhaps? See the full board here.
