Sheila and Dave were married in a traditional church ceremony at Church of Nativity (complete with a bagpiper) followed by a tented reception at The Santaluz Club in San Diego, Calif. on August 10. ”Our wedding planner helped us plan and design every last detail.  She helped us navigate through all the vendors and contracts and explained every step with us.  It made the whole process so much fun and relaxing and we didn’t have to worry about anything,” Sheila said. The bride wore a sweetheart drop waisted wedding gown, accessorized with a white and blush garden roses bouquet, while bridesmaids wore emerald chiffon dresses. The planner came up with a Midsummer Night’s Dream theme for the reception. ”We brought the outside in by incorporating 25 live ficus trees with twinkle lights in them inside the tent for that magical look,” she said. Tall branch centerpieces filled modern black vases, and gold crystal chandeliers draped in leaves and candles hung from the ceiling. The couples favorite part? The dessert bar complete with cake pops, macarons, shooters, and assorted bite-sized bars. See the full board here.

Maggie + Cliff: An Emerald California Vineyard Wedding By Lovebirds Photography by Chrissy Lynn
Posted by czentgraf. Filed under Real Weddings

Photos: Lovebirds Photography by Chrissy Lynn

Maggie and Cliff first met through mutual friends. They dated long distance for a while — she in Berkley, he in Los Angeles — that’s why they chose to wed in Paso Robles because it was between the two cities. Guests keep cool with their ceremony fan programs shaped like mason jars and a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade as they waited for the couple to walk down the aisle together. Maggie wore a a-line wedding gown accessorized with a green sweater while her bridesmaids wore green dress with white sweaters. Her bridal bouquet featured anemones and ranunculuses. “Cliff and I wrote letters to each other and locked them in a box with a bottle of the winery’s ‘Anniversary Blend’ wine along with some other ‘time capsule’ things,” Maggie said. “The plan is to open it on our 25th anniversary.” The reception seating chart was arranged on a Scrabble board. “We had lots of fun planning the menu,” she said. “Cliff never wants fancy food that’s inaccessible so our caterer helped us come up with ‘upgraded’ versions of his favorite comfort foods.” The chocolate chip cake was decorated with pinwheels, and when they weren’t dancing, guests posed for the photo booth. Heather + Ben: A Classic Black-Tie Lakeside Spring Minnesota Wedding By Mad Chicken Studio
Posted by czentgraf. Filed under Real Weddings

Photos: Mad Chicken Studio

Four generations of women in Heather’s family married in Duluth, Minnesota and even though the couple lived on the East Coast, they wanted to follow this tradition. “Ultimately, my parents were thrilled that we were able to celebrate together in a city that means so much to my family’s history,” Heather said. While planning the wedding, she had anticipated the weather to be closer to 70 or 80 degrees, but shockingly, it turned out to be balmy 45 degrees! Luckily, Heather stole her sister’s white fur bolero to keep warm. She also wore pearl-studded flats by Kate Spade, an heirloom Oleg Cassini wedding gown, and a J.Crew statement necklace. Each bridesmaid wore a black cocktail dress that best defined her personal style and personality while groomsmen wore black tuxedos and bow ties. The ceremony took place in front of 120 guests overlooking Lake Superior, and the reception was held in a tent filled with candles, moss, and succulents. The best part? The cake. “I will dream of this cake for the rest of my life,” she said. And the 17-piece band that played jazz and blues tunes throughout the night. See the full board here.

Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Real Weddings

Photos: Dear Wesleyann

Ever since she was a little girl, Genny dreamed of getting married at a chapel in Seaside, Fla. All she needed was Logan to come knocking on her door. And he did! The day before their wedding, it was warm and sunny, but on the morning of, a cold front came through with 20 mph winds, making it near 40 degrees and cloudy. To keep warm, Genny wore her grandmother’s fur coat, bridesmaids wore Pashmina shawls, and guests cozied up with blankets in the reception lounge, which featured large white sofas, mirrored side tables, decorative pillows, and dropped-drum shade lighting, sipped on key lime pie martinis, the signature cocktail, and ate macarons, which doubled as favors.
