Lisa Marie and Selim were married at Kretz Estates in Burlington, Ontario, Canada on June 14. The bride wore a gorgeous flowy dress with a beaded bodice and chiffon skirt. It was handmade from fabrics found at the grand bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. She donned a high curly updo accented with crystal hair pins and carried a large bouquet of purple roses and greenery. Her ‘maids looked stunning in mix-and-match deep v-neck dresses. The bridal party also had their hands painted in henna to honor Selim’s Turkish heritage. The groom looked dapper in a gray three-piece suit, while his men wore gray dress pants, suspenders, and purple bow ties. The pair tied the knot in front of 100 family members and friends that traveled a great distance from many places to be with them on their special day. They exchanged vows under an arch made of branches and adorned with bright flowers and white tulle fabric. A reception followed at the estates. “We hand made our wedding ourselves from our wedding favors, bouquets, center pieces, wedding arch, invitations…It was really lovely getting to be so involved and have the little details be exactly how we pictured,” Lisa Marie described. Their reception decor featured a display of Polaroid pictures of the newlyweds, paper lanterns, and a big wire heart topped with flowers and a photo of the couple’s engagement. Guests sat at long tables with white linens, brown place mats, tiny birdcages, and chalkboard table numbers set inside mini succulent tins. “We found a lot of inspiration through Instagram and Pinterest , we fell in love with the more bohemian/DIY weddings,” Lisa Marie says of their wedding inspiration.  For dessert, guests indulged in a cupcake-shaped cake decorated with white rosettes and purple polka dots. Lisa Marie encourages DIY projects, but not too many. “Pinterest is a great source for inspiration, however thinking you can complete X number of projects on your own is somewhat wishful thinking,” she said. Lindsay and Dustin were married at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church followed by a reception at Piedmont Estate and Gardens in Atlanta, Ga on April 20. Lindsay looked beautiful in a fitted lace gown with a scalloped low back and donned dangling crystal earrings. Her hair was pulled back into a low updo and she carried a bouquet of white and burgundy ranunculus, lisianthus, astilbe, and lamb’s ear. Her ‘maids opted for burgundy chiffon dresses with various necklines and a thin black sash. They carried bouquets of anemones and white ranunculus. The groom and his men looked dapper in classic black vested suits and black striped neck ties. The pair tied the knot in a traditional church ceremony in front of 175 guests. “I don’t know if there has ever been a more special moment in my life as the wedding ceremony,” Lindsay recalled. A reception followed at the Piedmont Estate and Gardens. “As soon as we saw Piedmont Estate and Gardens that we’d found, we were certain it was the perfect venue,” Lindsay explained. “From the floor-to-ceiling windows on the second floor, to the modern design within a historical landmark, the location was perfect.” Guests sat at round tables in wooden chiavari chairs. The head wooden table was adorned with anemones, roses, and dusty miller, as well as romantic candles. After dinner and dancing, guests indulged in a four-tier cake adorned with satin ribbon and a wire topper. Family and friends threw confetti as the newlyweds exited the reception. Lindsay’s helpful tip to remember on your wedding day? “Don’t sweat missing a ‘mandatory’ detail, we omitted party favors, and I didn’t mind, or worry about keeping track of everything,” she said. Janet and Stanley were married at Palmdale Estates in Fremont, Calif. on September 14. Even though the couple currently lives in New York City, they decided to plan a long-distance wedding where they grew up together. I’m probably some of the lucky few who meet their spouse in grade school,” Janet said. “The first time I met my husband, we were in 7th grade. During 8th grade, we certainly had a ‘thing’ going on between us, but it wasn’t until we were juniors in high school did we begin dating seriously. From that moment on, we have grown up together and at times apart, but we always seem to find our way back to one another.” The bride wore a lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a birdcage veil with feathers, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a cobalt blue tie to match the bridesmaids long chiffon dresses. Almost 250 guests witnessed the ceremony, and following dinner was served in an expansive open-aired tent surrounding the gardens. “I aimed to have elegance incorporated into my wedding design through lining my tent with chiffon, chiavari chairs and up-lighting,” she said. “Overall, I hoped to achieve the modern chic feel.” Reception tables were decorated with tall floral centerpieces of hydrangeas, roses, and delphinium, and yes, green apples and branches, gold charger plates, and ribbon-tied napkins. Plus, the classic white cake was 3-dimensional in design — how cool! See the full board here.

Kaylie + Noah: A Vintage Blush And Sage Green Virginia Estate Wedding By Katelyn James Photography
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Real Weddings

Photos: Katelyn James Photography

Kaylie and Noah met in high school and dated throughout college. During her senior year at Virginia Tech, he proposed on Valentine’s Day with a jar of homemade fortune cookies. Inside each one was a message that said, “Will you marry me?” They chose the Irvine Estate in Lexington, Va. for their vintage-themed blush and sage green summer wedding. Invitations were sent on handkerchiefs explaining to “please bring this in case you cry and we’ll wave them to bid a fond goodbye!” Bridesmaids wore one-shoulder chiffon dresses and carried baby’s breath bouquets, whereas, groomsmen wore pale blue suits and matching bow ties. Inside Noah’s suit jacket was a fabric-shaped heart with the date of their wedding stitched on — June 15, 2013. They loved the amazing view of the Appalachian Mountains in the distance during their ceremony. Guests even surprised them with mustache props as they exited! Cocktail hour followed with hors d’oeuvres, including mini beef wellingtons and spinach and cheese dip with French bread. But no one could wait to taste the ombre pink lemon wedding cake filled with raspberry buttercream at the reception. See the full board here.
