Cozy Thanksgiving Wishes…
Posted by Kate. Filed under Announcements

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope your weekend is as cozy as this darling photo by our friends at Paper Antler!

Speaking of- a shoutout:  Johnny and Michelle of PA have spent the last year on a photography/charity project called the Fifty Nifty, and I’ve been following their journey in awe and admiration the whole way thru.  On this day of gratitude, it seems so fitting to give a quick update on their progress.  For 2012, Paper Antler set out to photograph fifty weddings in fifty states, donating $1,000 from each wedding directly to She Dances– an incredible charity that supports an anti-trafficking, holistic safehouse for young girls and women in Honduras.  The goal was $50,000 and they are almost there.  To help them complete their generous and inspiring mission (just $3,000 to go)  head here to offer your support. There is just beauty inside and out in this industry. ♥

Wishing you a truly wonderful holiday weekend.

An Arizona Engagement with Paper Antler Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Engagements

A few weeks ago I had the honor of working with an extremely talented team on a fresh Southwest-inspired style wedding photoshoot (coming soon)!  To get warmed up, we snagged our models (the newly engaged and totally lovely- Brigette and Alexis) for an engagement shoot in the mountains near Tucson, Arizona.  Paper Antler worked their (as usual) incredible photo magic… and captured these two lovebirds in the scenic desert landscape.  My sweet friends at Tres Boutique styled their ensembles with a mix of new and vintage pieces. Before sunrise, we headed up to a spot called Gate’s Pass to catch the morning light in the rugged desert mountains.  It happened to rain a little that morning (a welcome treat for Tucson), so there was a lot of cloud cover in the typically clear southern Arizona skies.  We wanted Brigette and Alexis’ charm and an amazing wardrobe to be the focus of the shoot, against the awe-inspiring backdrop.  Akiko, owner and head stylist of Tres Boutique, outfitted Brigette in a gorgeous, translucent pink and melon colored dress (which retails for just about $50 if you can believe it)!  Alexis wore a vintage plaid button down, a very cool bomber jacket and fitted jeans.
Brigette and Alexis are such an awesome duo… Brigette is a master yoga instructor and Alexis is a nationally-renowned rock climbing guide….And they’re incredibly sweet… and so gorgeous.

For me, one of the highlights of this photoshoot was getting to meet Jonny and Michelle of  Paper Antler.  I had been following their work for the last year, corresponding with them tons… totally in awe of the way that they’ve paired their talents photographing couples with a way to do extraordinary global service work.   The rundown:  They’re photographing 50 weddings in 2012 around the country.  They’re donating $1,000 from each wedding to benefit She Dances, an organization that provides holistic restoration to victims of human trafficking.  Wow.  It’s seriously good work they’re doing.  Did I mention they are two of the coolest peeps I’ve ever met?  Yup.. hire them for wedding if they’ve got your date open.. (You’ll thank me : ) You can find out more about their efforts at or in the video down below!

Vintage Elegance in the Midwest
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Inspired by the idea of creating a new ‘story’ together, Sarah and Jeff had a storybook-themed wedding.  A day of sheer vintage elegance, we’re loving the antique blue and pewter palette and classic details.  Everything from Sarah’s Robert Bullock bridal gown, to the bridesmaid’s J. Crew dresses was in perfect style. The pair met while attending the University of Madison, but they currently live in Germany where Jeff is a pro hockey player and Sarah is getting her Master’s Degree in counseling. Notice the sweet storybook graphic on their sophisticated navy and white programs. The couple was overjoyed to be married at the same church that Sarah’s parents had been wed in, the historic Westminster Presbyterian in downtown Minneapolis. There was more classic beauty and elegant vintage styling at their Minikahda Club reception.

There’s lots more to see from Sarah and Jeff’s beautiful day in our real wedding gallery!

Fall Friday {A Real Wedding by Paper Antler}
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Colleen and Nick’s love story is one for the books… and their fall wedding, filled with personal touches. The couple met when Nick, a member of the Geek Squad, was sent out on a routine visit to repair Colleen’s computer.  As soon as Nick saw her, he conveniently prolonged a five minute quick fix into a multiple hour visit.

They married on an October day in Madison, Wisconsin, with falling leaves painting the backdrop. The reception was held at Sardine, a trendy bistro that overlooks Lake Monona.  This is where Nick had proposed.

It was a day of sweet celebration and love.

Happy (almost) One Year Anniversary to Colleen & Nick!

A super special thanks to Jonny and Michelle of Paper Antler for sending these photos over!  If you don’t already know this, I really love the folks over at Paper Antler… not only do they take beautiful, timeless photographs (with that subtle hint of vintage)… but they are also changing the world with their work.

In 2012, Paper Antler will set out to photograph fifty weddings in fifty states, donating $1,000 from each wedding to She Dances, an ‘anti-human trafficking’ organization.  They’re calling it the Fifty Nifty and they’re booking now.  SO, if you’re getting married in 2012 in one of the fifty states.. and you’d like to support this extraordinary effort you can find out more…

Sweet weekend to ya…
