* Vintage Elegance in the Midwest

Posted on October 10th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Inspired by the idea of creating a new ’story’ together, Sarah and Jeff had a storybook-themed wedding.  A day of sheer vintage elegance, we’re loving the antique blue and pewter palette and classic details.  Everything from Sarah’s Robert Bullock bridal gown, to the bridesmaid’s J. Crew dresses was in perfect style. The pair met while attending the University of Madison, but they currently live in Germany where Jeff is a pro hockey player and Sarah is getting her Master’s Degree in counseling. Notice the sweet storybook graphic on their sophisticated navy and white programs. The couple was overjoyed to be married at the same church that Sarah’s parents had been wed in, the historic Westminster Presbyterian in downtown Minneapolis. There was more classic beauty and elegant vintage styling at their Minikahda Club reception.

There’s lots more to see from Sarah and Jeff’s beautiful day in our real wedding gallery!

* Fall Friday {A Real Wedding by Paper Antler}

Posted on September 30th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Colleen and Nick’s love story is one for the books… and their fall wedding, filled with personal touches. The couple met when Nick, a member of the Geek Squad, was sent out on a routine visit to repair Colleen’s computer.  As soon as Nick saw her, he conveniently prolonged a five minute quick fix into a multiple hour visit.

They married on an October day in Madison, Wisconsin, with falling leaves painting the backdrop. The reception was held at Sardine, a trendy bistro that overlooks Lake Monona.  This is where Nick had proposed.

It was a day of sweet celebration and love.

Happy (almost) One Year Anniversary to Colleen & Nick!

A super special thanks to Jonny and Michelle of Paper Antler for sending these photos over!  If you don’t already know this, I really love the folks over at Paper Antler… not only do they take beautiful, timeless photographs (with that subtle hint of vintage)… but they are also changing the world with their work.

In 2012, Paper Antler will set out to photograph fifty weddings in fifty states, donating $1,000 from each wedding to She Dances, an ‘anti-human trafficking’ organization.  They’re calling it the Fifty Nifty and they’re booking now.  SO, if you’re getting married in 2012 in one of the fifty states.. and you’d like to support this extraordinary effort you can find out more…

Sweet weekend to ya…

Jenna and Pat’s morning wedding is sure to cheer up even the most mundane of Mondays (but of course, hopefully yours is swell already)!  With a bright yellow color palette and lemon theme, the day was freshly styled and brimming with joy.  A sweet thank you to Paper Antler Photography who shared these special photos with us…. (Scroll down to check out the very cool thing Paper Antler is doing in 2012)!

See More of Jenna + Pat’s Big Day…

I was utterly inspired when I heard about the Paper Antler Fifty Nifty.  This fabulous husband and wife photography team have dedicated all of 2012 to photographing 50 weddings, in 50 states, all to donate $1,000 per wedding (that’s $50,000 folks) to She Dances, a non-profit working to rescue children in Honduras who have been victims of human trafficking.  The money raised will help to keep the local safe home running for a full year, or to aid the organization in opening a new place of refuge in another area of need. You can help them by booking a 2012 wedding or by spreading the word!

* Karis + Stephen: Sweet Chattanooga Real Wedding

Posted on June 1st, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Our dear friends over at Paper Antler sent over this sweet, sweet Tennessee wedding the other day.  We are totally in awe of Karis and Stephen’s unique meeting and we can’t get enough of the beautiful and natural simplicity of their oh-so-happy day!   Read more down below:

Karis is one of seven children, and grew up in Ireland.  Stephen, who is one of three children, grew up in Chicago but has been living in Nairobi, Kenya for the past four years.  Karis + Stephen were introduced through a mutual friend in Kenya, and after dating long distance (very long distance) for the majority of their relationship, and after a proposal atop the summit of Mt. Kenya, they wed in Chattanooga, TN, surrounded by friends and family from all over the world.  Their reception took place at a quaint bed and breakfast, and featured some serious dancing, lawn games, and fireworks across the pond, which were a surprise from Karis to Stephen.

Karis + Stephen exhibit a joy and a love that is contagious.  Their smiles light up a room and it was rare to see either one of them not on the brink of laughter.  We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of their day and we wish them all the best as they continue their journey back to Nairobi, Kenya!

-Jonny + Michelle of Paper Antler

(P.S. If you haven’t heard.. Jonny and Michelle are currently booking weddings around the country for their 2012 Fifty Nifty tour!  They’re aiming to photograph 50 weddings in 50 states during the year… and $1,000 from each wedding will go directly to She Dances, an extraordinary organization working to rescue young girls who have been trafficked and sexually exploited in Honduras.  Seriously, you should book Paper Antler… not only are they extremely talented, but they’re also some sort of crazy awesome). ♥
