* Katie + Jason’s Chicago Engagement by Clary Photo
Posted on February 16th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Engagements, Photography.
The sweet couple that we feature in this week’s Real Wedding of the Week had a beautiful sunrise engagement session in the city of Chicago. I’m totally overcome with the loveliness of the lighting, the magnificence of the city (my hometown), and of course the sweetness between the two of them. Clary Pfeiffer was there to capture the session in beautiful film photographs.

After a morning in the city, they headed out to where the grass is green and trees are aplenty for a few portraits in the midwest countryside. My oh my how Clary made it look so lush and green and dreamy there…

* A Relaxed Colorado Wedding by Kristopher Orr
Posted on February 9th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Photography, Real Weddings.
I’m a long time admirer of Kristopher Orr’s gorgeous film photographs… They just have that special something… you know. He photographed Kristen and Collin’s very relaxed and terribly sweet Colorado wedding this past summer. I’m just loving the groom’s gingham shirt and the bride’s vintage gown…

The best word to desrcibe their day: simple! They wanted to spend their wedding day in comfortable, casual style… very untraditional. Kristen and Collin’s ceremony was held at the LDS Temple in Colorado, then they headed over to a private residence for the reception. The weather was beautiful and sunny, but not too hot for August in Breckenridge. They set up badminton and mini golf games in the backyard for guests to play! The reception tables were decorated with tea pots and knick knacks from thrift stores and antique shops.
So much beauty in simplicity…
Happy Wishes to Kristen + Collin!

* Special ♥ News: A Workshop with Jen Huang
Posted on January 13th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Announcements.
Jen Huang is- hands down- a favorite around here at Project Wedding.
She never fails to capture beautifully lit portraits and gorgeous weddings in timeless film photos.
In fact, if I was a photographer, she’d be my total idol (and she pretty much is, anyway).
I’m soooo excited to announce that I’ll be speaking at Jen’s upcoming photography workshop in Los Angeles this April! A team of fabulous wedding pros will also be styling a shoot for the workshop, based on some inspirations that I’m dreaming up.
If you’re a photographer looking to learn how to get published more and study with one of the best in the industry, you can catch more details about the workshop {here}!
Happy Weekend!

* Mara + Danny: A Portrait Session by Jonathan Canlas
Posted on December 27th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Engagements, Photography.
Our facebook feeds are just buzzing with holiday engagements… oh what a fun time of year! Wedding planning is about to be in full swing. Perhaps you’re newly engaged? We’ve had our eye out for super stylin’ engagement sessions; here’s a portrait session by Jonathan Canlas that delighted us entirely.
Meet Mara.
… And Danny…
Their city hipster wardrobe is quite enviable (and perfectly unique for an engagement session). Take note of the primary colors (looking so beautiful in film) and the very clever pattern matching.

We love how the photos showcase them. Just them. Proof that you don’t need to play with tons of props to get a completely memorable engagement album. Their style, their love of the city, and the sweetness between the two of them are utterly apparent, making for personal, vibrant, perfect portraits.
Thanks sooooo much to Jonathan Canlas for sharing these with us! Check out more from his ‘Film is Not Dead’ series over here!
* Cozy Mountain Wedding by Kristopher Orr
Posted on December 8th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Brittany and Mark’s wedding in Salt Lake City was held in November… it was intimate, relaxed, and cozy… held in the evening hours at the Mill Creek Inn. Kristopher Orr documented their memory-filled day in beautiful film photograms. This first one, so crazy beautiful…

The couple was very relaxed about planning the details, they were mostly concerned with creating a close and comfortable atmosphere with their very favorite people and serving great food. They worked with a unique deep purple, mustard, and black palette, which was very pretty in the autumn mountain setting.

The pair met at a party while both attending the University of Utah. A year and a half after they got together, they decided to tie the knot. Mark works for a small roofing company and Brittany is a PR rep for a physical therapy company. They share passions for exotic travel, photography, and adventurous outdoor sports! For a wedding gift, Mark got Brittany an old Yashica 124G Mat twin lens camera. She got him a framed scratch map of the world on which to document their travels together.

During the course of the evening, Mark and Brittany found lots of time to sit and visit with guests. Just before they cut the cake, Mark gave a beautiful, impromptu speech about his love for Brittany and his gratitude for everyone that had come to share the day. The entire wedding night just felt like a big, relaxing get together with the people they love.

* Rustic & Heartfelt Outdoor Celebration
Posted on October 31st, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
This week’s real wedding is just so special. The photos emanate such a divine love… and all of the planning revolved around the connection that Tessa and John share with their loved ones. The bride said, ‘Once we found that center it was easy to let some traditional elements go and not feel pressured by trends. This allowed us the freedom to create a totally unique and intimate event for our guests.’ The day overflowed with organic beauty and rustic sophistication, and was captured in both digital and film photographs by Michelle Warren.
There is so much more of this gorgeous earthen palette to enjoy!… See the full story {here}.

* Lush Botanical Real Wedding
Posted on September 6th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Right now, this is my fave. I’m pretty much obsessed with these photographs from Cat and Jon’s cool Santa Barbara wedding. The lush and vibrant botanicals… the metallic glass accents… the STUNNING film photography. It’s almost overwhelming. Cat and Jon made their day a blend of eclectic styling and neutral tones paired with florals the colors of a California sunset. Thanks to Braedon Photography for capturing this day so brilliantly, and then, of course, for sharing it with us…!

* Antique Charm in Alpine, Utah

I am absolutely reveling in the film photographs from Katie and Steve’s intimate wedding in the mountainous, rural landscape of Alpine, Utah. The rich color palette of wine, blush, aubergine, and antique silver makes for some serious eye candy. Here’s a peek at a selection of photos by Jonathan Canlas, but you can catch the full feature and read their sweet story in our Real Wedding Gallery!

* Luca Park Steals My Heart
Posted on May 24th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Color Palettes, Photography.
One of our favorite film photographers has opened up an Etsy Shop called Luca Park and we’re in love. Her stunning fine art prints are now for sale… wouldn’t they make beautiful home décor? The colors are ravishing.. inspiration for, say, a rich and luxurious wedding day color palette too…
A special thanks to Silvana di Franco for sharing the beautiful imagery!
