* Lauren + Mike: A Fuchsia and Black NYC-Themed Wedding by Calynn Berry
Posted on April 15th, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Q: What’s black, white, and hot pink all over? A: Lauren and Mike’s modern NYC-themed nuptials! Though this Manhattan-based couple married in Rochester, Michigan, the Big Apple was a major source of inspiration for their glam ballroom wedding. “Ever since I saw the Sex & the City movie, I knew that I wanted black bridesmaid dresses with bright fuchsia flowers,” says Lauren. With the help of Courtney at Petals Planning Company, the rest of the graphic decor followed suit! Thanks to photographer Calynn Berry for sharing her images of this metropolitan celebration.

* Modern Romance at the Four Seasons by Michelle Lindsay Photography

When a wedding planner gets hitched, you know the results are going to be extraordinary. From the candlelit ceremony to the violet and ‘hot lady pink’ color palette, Jennifer and Jamie’s glam ballroom celebration at the Four Seasons in D.C. was filled with details that spelled modern romance. Almost two hundred guests traveled from twenty three states to see them say ‘I do’, and they kicked off the party with glasses of pomegranate seed-garnished prosecco at the ceremony. Ace photographer Michelle Lindsay documented the fuchsia luxury with vibrancy and clarity—we can practically feel the excitement radiating off these images!
Despite living on the same street in Arlington, VA, hectic schedules kept the bride and groom from a typical courtship. She’s an event planner, and he’s a surgeon, so they got to know each other over pre-work Starbucks dates and late night walks with Jennifer’s dog Bentley. A year into the relationship, Jamie proposed in San Francisco. He had a gorgeous engagement ring for her—and a blinged-out collar for Bentley!
The couple opted for a large, party-style celebration in the city where they fell in love: Washington, DC. They married at a luxe hotel in the historic Georgetown neighborhood, and streamlined the reception to involve as few breaks from music and dancing as possible. As an event planner, Jennifer loves the drama of colored lighting, and worked with A2Z Music Factory to turn the Four Seasons ballroom the perfect shade of pink. Another favorite detail of the bride’s: the textured rosette table linens, which felt as luxurious as they looked.
* Intimate Hawaiian Real Wedding by James Rubio Photography

Bright persimmon hues and deep and very vibrant fuchsias…all on the scenic island of Kauai… sounds like paradise to me. Claire and Jing’s destination wedding is a bundle of gorgeousness. The bride and groom were born in difference Chinese cities, but met in London where they attended college. After five years there, and three subsequent years in a long distance relationship, the couple was very happy to make a home together in Hong Kong and jet off to Hawaii for an intimate celebration. Despite some unanticipated rain, these beautiful photos by James Rubio Photography are pure proof of a joyful and stunning wedding day!
Living in Hong Kong, the couple envisioned Hawaii to be sunny and bright. What they weren’t counting on was the continuous tropical rain. Although minorly disappointed, they embraced the Hawaiian mist and moved forward with an outdoor ceremony that was stunning to say the least. Martin Roberts’ floral design was the ideal blend of vibrant island elegance, framing the entire event in exotic beauty.
Claire, in a sophisticated one-shoulder Vera Wang and Jing, in a classic black tuxedo, later took more photos in the warm rains and ended up happily soaked. The locals reported that the Hawaiian rain was good luck for a wedding! The couple joked back, ‘Well if that’s the case, today we are indeed extremely blessed people.’
Claire is a photography fanatic and came across James Rubio’s photography from thousands of miles away. After falling in love with his style, the plan for the Hawaiian destination wedding emerged.
The quaint reception for ten was a site to behold! On a covered porch at the Plantation Gardens, a dinner table with architectural centerpieces and glowing candlelight was set. With the rain misting outside, it was a cozy little setting.
We’re loving all of this Hawaiian eye candy and Claire and Jing’s impeccable style. The juxtaposition of island beauty with luxury and elegance so makes me swoon.

* Hot Pink + Charcoal Real Wedding by Sarina Love Photography

Doesn’t that palette just sound so fabulous? Michelle and Ken’s California wedding was enchanting to say the least. With a modern vision, amazing details, and bright pink pops of color… there’s was a recipe for a fun, gorgeous wedding! The two met when they were paired up as partners at a cotillion. From the look of this first photo, it appears that Ken is as chivalrous as the day they met… so sweet! A very special thanks to Sarina Love Photography for sending these photos our way….
I’ve never seen such a hot, hot pink bouquet! Tracey Go from The Flower Tray spray painted baby’s breath and billy balls to get the look. The bouquets matched the bridal party’s custom-made attire to a tee. Per the usual, it was a gorgeous sunny day in June in Southern California.
The bride is a nurse practitioner and the groom is an optometrist, so they had a “Rx for a good marriage” prescription pad for a little personalization! The bride made it herself, along with all the invitations, programs, seating assignments and menus. We love a good DIYer… with some help from Skybox Event Productions, the result was a ravishing reception at the Padua Hills Theater in Claremont.
The reception was relaxed, fun, and filled with dancing! I’m in awe of this cake… it featured lyrics from their first dance song- Stay with You by John Legend. So unique and perfectly suited for the fabulous party.
Wishing newlywed bliss to Michelle + Ken!
