Joanna and Andy were married at Luther Seminary followed by a reception at the Lafayette Club in St. Paul, Minn. on October 18. The bride looked stunning in a fit-and-flare strapless gown with a drop waist and ruffled skirt. She wore her hair wavy and swept to the side and accessorized with a pair of gorgeous drop earrings and a bedazzled hair piece. She carried a romantic bouquet of pink garden roses and black and white anemones, which she pinned her grandmother’s gold hummingbird brooch to. Her ‘maids donned champagne dresses complete with chiffon skirts and beaded bodices. The groom and his men opted for classic black three-piece suits. The pair tied the knot in a traditional church ceremony in front of 240 friends and family members. “We wanted a classic, sophisticated, and romantic wedding,” Joanna said of her inspiration. A reception followed in a glamorous ballroom at the Lafayette Club. “We chose our reception venue not only for the beautiful classic ballroom, but also because of its setting on Lake Minnetonka – Andy loves the lakes,” Joanna said. Guests sat at round tables dressed in white linens and gold chiavari chairs with black napkins and seat cushions. The wedding party sat at a head table facing out towards the guests. “Because we met at the mailboxes, we incorporated a subtle mailbox theme at our wedding, including printing ‘their love story began at the mailbox’ on the backflap of our invitations, decorating our escort cards with postage stamps, and setting out miniature mailboxes with truffles tucked inside for our guests’ favors at the reception (these also served as placecard holders),” Joanna said of the personal touches. After dinner and dancing, the newlyweds cut the glamorous  four-tier white cake, which had a topper reading ‘The Sweetest Day’ on it, to honor the holiday they were married on. Joanna’s best advice for brides? Be patient! “Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find the right hairstyle, makeup, or dress on the first try. These things take time.” See the full board here.

Francisca + Robert: A Glamorous Pink Summer California Inn Wedding By The Bird & The Bear – Photography & Films

Francisca and Robert were married at the Inn at Park Winters in Winters, Calif. on September 7. “I really envisioned a vintage country wedding and the location gave me that,” Francisca said. The bride wore a strapless lace mermaid wedding gown with a ruffled skirt, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down with a jeweled headband and floor-length veil, while the groom wore three-piece black suit, accessorized with a tie. Bridesmaids wore short purple chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, mums, and altromerias. The ceremony took place underneath an altar draped with white gauze and crystal beading. “It was an extremely warm day! Luckily, it was in the late afternoon, so it had cooled off a bit by the time the wedding rolled around,” she said. “The ceremony was lovely, and I was very excited to see all of the details of a year and a half’s worth of planning come to fruition.” The reception was oh-so sweet! Why? Because tables were decorated with gray linens, chargers (topped with a candy apple), centerpieces with mirrors accents, and mercury glass votive candles. “The florist did such a great job,” she said. “They really helped in transforming and adding to the ambience.” “What I was most excited about was the cake, dessert table, and candy bar,” Francisca said. “I had worked with Chanelle Molina of just stick a fork in it, and I couldn’t wait to see what she had come up with. Her set up was fabulous, and very easy to grab something here and there without it looking messy or empty.” The candy bar was inspired from the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, including a framed quote that said, “Candy is dandy.” Guests danced the night away after dinner on the dance floor, and were sent home with do-it-yourself honey jar favors attached with “Thanks for sharing in our sweet beginnings” tags. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Pick one or two things that are pricey and make them your priority,” she said. “Be specific, but also realize that not everything will go exactly as planned. Lastly, you will always run late. Don’t worry about it. It will all be okay!” See the full board here.

Denisse + Nick: An Art Deco-Inspired Purple Fall California Country Club Wedding By Gina & Ryan Photography

Denisse and Nick were married at Wedgewood Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills, Calif. on October 18. The couple first met almost seven years ago, working at Nordstrom. “He is full of love and energy, he always finds ways to get me out of my shell, and puts a smile on my face, which I absolutely love,” Denisse said. “I couldn’t be happier.” The bride wore a sweetheart lace trumpet wedding gown, accessorized with a fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a solid bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long purple chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. “The weather was great,” she said. “It was warm with a light breeze by the evening.” After being wed in front of 100 family and friends, the reception followed inside the clubhouse. “We love the era of the 1920’s thru the 40’s and wanted to bring that up-to-date in our wedding,” Denisse said. “We kept repeating to each other that we wanted a ‘classic wedding.'” Tables were surrounded by chiavari chairs, decorated with gold charger plates, branch centerpieces dripping in crystals, and stemless wine glasses filled with mints, which also served double-duty as favors. Since the newlyweds were inspired by Louis Armstrong tunes, they performed their first dance to “La Vie En Rose.” A photo booth even provided extra entertainment too. Notice the “Ladies, powder your nose, and gents, comb your mustache” sign? See the full board here.

Hillary and Jake were married at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, Calif. on August 4. “The most important thing to us was that our wedding reflected our personalities and our love for each other,” Hillary said. “We wanted a beautiful setting and to keep the decorations simple and focus on what was really important – celebrating our marriage with the most important people in the world to us.” The bride wore a lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with an open back, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a bow tie and pocket square. Bridesmaids wore long Tiffany blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of pink astilbes. “The day was beautiful and perfect temperature outside,” she said. “The breeze was fantastic from the ocean, and we could hear the waves crash against the shore as we said our vows.” The couple, along with their mothers, performed a sand ceremony to symbolize two families becoming one. Mothers too! Cocktail hour began with signature drinks – “Blushing Bride” and “Golden Groom” – and guests taking pictures and hashtagging them with #jakeandhillary2013 on Instagram. Tables were decorated with floating candle centerpieces, family photos, and of course, assorted seashells on place cards. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Enjoy your day! The day goes so fast so my advice is to slow down, take a great look around, and give your new spouse and extra kiss. There will never be another day quite like your wedding day so enjoy it as much as you can.” she said. See the full board here.
