* A Glam Crimson Romance by Jerry Yoon Photography

Posted on December 25th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

This week’s real wedding sure has gotten me in a festive mood with rich crimson accents absolutely everywhere.  Jason and Wendy met in college, but didn’t kindle a romance until six years later.  They fell completely in love, became engaged in the winter of 2011, then spent the following year planning their dream day.  Wendy has a flair for sparkle, and I have to admit I’m totally taken by the rhinestone accents, and formal, romantic styling.  With a palette of crimson, grey and ‘bling,’ you know something special is in store.  Enjoy their gorgeous story in photos by Jerry Yoon Photography.

Wendy says: I’ve been planning my wedding day since I was fifteen. When I found my soul mate, there was no doubt I was willing to put in the work to create the perfect day; from choosing the most decadent dinner menu to finding the most timeless dress. I love all things sparkly…diamonds and rhinestones were a must! The Legion of Honor was a perfect canvas for what we wanted to achieve. The stone courtyard, the tall columns, the elegant theater, and the reception room emphasized the theme: red, grey, and bling! While I focused on how I wanted the wedding to look, Jason was only concerned about one thing- the food! He made sure every appetizer and main entrée was delicious and memorable.

A reception of warm decadence followed the outdoor ceremony in the stone courtyard of the Legion of Honor.  I’m having no problem at all reveling in their beautiful devotion to plan a truly special day.  Wishing these two decades of romance and love, love love…

* Ivory Elegance in Tuscany by Franci’s Flowers and Rosapaola Lucibelli

Posted on September 25th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

After fourteen years together, two beautiful daughters, and tons of international travel, Paula and Louis recommitted to one another in one exquisite vow renewal in Tuscany.  Towards the beginning of the relationship, Paula left her home in Portugal to be with Louis in Angola.  On a trip to Florence, the couple bought rings and exchanged them in a completely private ceremony- just the two of them.  Over a dozen years later, they decided to host an all-out celebration. With Francesca Piras in the design seat and Rosapaola Lucibelli capturing it all, a day of ivory elegance and breathtaking Tuscan views ensued.  Talk about exquisite… Paula looked utterly divine in her Manuel Mota for Pronovias gown and lace veil.  She carried a pristine bouquet of white orchids down the aisle on the manicured grounds of Villa La Vedetta.  An intimate group of loved ones from around the globe joined them for the ceremony and three days of reveling in the Italian countryside.

Beauty was absolutely everywhere, in the crystalline centerpieces, the panoramic views, and the enduring love between the Paula and Louis.  The formal party ended on a high note with a marvelous five tier cake with hundreds of cascading orchids  and a glowing lantern release.

We’re wishing this dashing couple decades of happiness!

* Noir et Blush: Santosha’s Boudoir-Inspired Real Wedding

Posted on August 21st, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

What a special week this is… today is the second day in a row that I’ve gotten to share weddings from our fabulous PW community!  (Interested in having your wedding featured?  Find out more here…) Micaela – aka Santosha- is a Project Wedding hostess that is constantly inspiring… she met her beloved, Marc, thru a mutual friend a year before they started dating.  At the time, they were living an ocean away (she, in Edmonton, he, in London), until a romantic train getaway and a stolen kiss started it all… After six years together Micaela and Marc married in Edmonton, finding inspiration for their wedding in boudoir and avant-garde styling; the décor featured black lace, feathers, skeleton keys, and rococo patterns. Micaela dreamed of an edgy, modern wedding that made a statement.

Micaela scoured the web searching for inspiration, which she found easily in things like luxurious satin corsets, burlesque costumes, and film noir still shots.  The hard part was finding resources to bring her unique vision to life.  Thus, she went all-out DIYing everything from the bouquets to the centerpieces to the cake topper.  JAG Photography captured their wow wedding style in this striking set of sexy photos!

Back to that romantic train ride… After they met through a mutual friend, Micaela and Marc shared back and forth emails, random phone calls, and witty banter online until Marc asked Micaela to accompany him on a train ride through the Canadian Rockies. Their connection was sparked against the surreal and breathtaking backdrop.  Eventually Marc moved from his home in East London to Edmonton to be with Micaela!

The reception was completely unique, unlike any I’ve ever seen.  The Art Gallery of Alberta was adorned with bold striped tablecloths, candles, angels, and black, white and blush everything.  Although Micaela spent hundreds of hours designing the celebration, the Day-of Coordination by Sofia Morgadinho of Awespiring Weddings was crucial.

Pink sweets by Crave topped off the ah.maz.ing event….  A special thanks to Micaela for being such a fabulous, dedicated hostess and to both Micaela and Marc for sharing their incredible photos with us!

* Hot Pink + Charcoal Real Wedding by Sarina Love Photography

Posted on August 16th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Doesn’t that palette just sound so fabulous?  Michelle and Ken’s California wedding was enchanting to say the least.  With a modern vision, amazing details, and bright pink pops of color… there’s was a recipe for a fun, gorgeous wedding!  The two met when they were paired up as partners at a cotillion.  From the look of this first photo, it appears that Ken is as chivalrous as the day they met… so sweet!  A very special thanks to Sarina Love Photography for sending these photos our way….

I’ve never seen such a hot, hot pink bouquet!  Tracey Go  from The Flower Tray spray painted baby’s breath and billy balls to get the look.  The bouquets matched the bridal party’s custom-made attire to a tee.  Per the usual, it was a gorgeous sunny day in June in Southern California.

The bride is a nurse practitioner and the groom is an optometrist, so they had a “Rx for a good marriage” prescription pad for a little personalization! The bride made it herself, along with all the invitations, programs, seating assignments and menus. We love a good DIYer… with some help from Skybox Event Productions, the result was a ravishing reception at the Padua Hills Theater in Claremont.

The reception was relaxed, fun, and filled with dancing!  I’m in awe of this cake… it featured lyrics from their first dance song- Stay with You by John Legend. So unique and perfectly suited for the fabulous party.

Wishing newlywed bliss to Michelle + Ken!
