Kendall+ Keddy: Great Gatsby Glam Photographed by Caroline + Ben Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Gatsby-hype or not,  Kendall and Keddy’s Austin wedding is an absolute knockout.  The bride’s favorite book is in fact, The Great Gatsby, and her favorite era? All of the art-deco and glamour of the 1920′s.  The Austin celebration was drenched with vintage-inspired details from the time period and the photographs by Caroline +  Ben Photography could not have captured the style, emotion, and opulence more perfectly.

For the ceremony, the couple planned to surprise one another with a scripture reading.  Unbeknownst to either of them, they had selected the exact same one, Ruth 1:16: ‘But Ruth replied: Do not persuade me to leave you or go back and not follow you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.’

Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Real Weddings

Blending elegance and comfort is ideal for any wedding, but it’s not always easy to pull off. That’s why we were so impressed with Sandy and Matt’s south Georgia celebration. And how gorgeous is that mismatched selection of champagne bridesmaid dresses!? We’re obsessed.

DIY Wednesday: Repurposed Wine Bottle Centerpieces
Posted by Kate. Filed under DIY Wednesday, Do It Yourself, Reception

By: Danyelle Mathews

Wanting to make your wedding a little more green? Up cycle wine bottles to create these eye catching centerpieces.

Supplies: Wine bottles (Start saving ‘em or call around to local restaurants and offer to pick up empty bottles) • spray paint (Choose a combination of satin and glossy paint to add more interest) • primer • gold metallic paint • round paint sponges

Step One. In a well ventilated area, paint your bottles in light even coats. Don’t apply the paint too heavily or you’ll end up with drips. If your bottles are dark colored glass like brown or green, use primer first.

Step Two. When the bottles are dry gather your metallic paint and sponge brushes. Pour a small amount of the metallic paint onto a paper plate.

Step Three. Lightly dab one of the round sponge brushes into the metallic paint. Tap excess paint onto the paper plate.

Step Four.  Gently dab the round paint sponge onto the bottle. Repeat to create a pattern you love.

Step Five. Add water and flowers; then arrange a mix of taller and shorter bottles on the reception tables.
