Ashlee and Michael were married at Green Gables Estate in San Marcos, Calif. on April 13. “I knew from the very beginning that I did not want our wedding to be in a hotel, so I began to look at various outdoor venues,” Ashlee said. “When we came across Green Gables Estate, we knew we did not have to look any further as it had all of the character we were looking for.” The bride wore a sweetheart lace a-line wedding gown, accessorized with drop dangling earrings, initialed necklace, and jeweled sash, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a patterned tie. Bridesmaids wore short gray dresses with keyhole backs and carried bouquets of roses, ranunculuses, football mums, and lamb’s ears. Guests were greeted at the ceremony with a wooden sign that said, “Today, two families are becoming one. Please pick a seat not a side.” “We did many things during the ceremony to make it very personal,” she said. “From having every one of our siblings participating in some manner to our 14-year-old dog Gibson being our ring bearer to our niece singing, and to all of our guests participating in the vows.” The reception followed cocktail hour in a tent draped with fabric on the ceiling. “We wanted all of our guests to feel at home so for the place cards we wrote everyone a personal note,” Ashlee said. Tables were decorated with tall candelabra centerpieces, lavender sprig numbers, vintage china, and favor bags at each place setting. They performed their first dance to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, then surprised the crowd by switching the song to “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. That wasn’t the only entertainment for the night though — a photo booth complete with props kept smiles wide. The newlyweds’ best advice? “On the day of take a lot of deep breaths to soak everything in,” Ashlee said. “And attempt to schedule at least 10 to 15 minutes after the ceremony where you and your new husband can be alone and take in this joyous event.” See the full board here.
