Emily + Ben: A Vintage Tennessee Wedding by Gideon Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

From fond farewells to an emotional first look, Emily and Ben’s sweet Southern wedding is filled with special moments. Their vintage-inspired affair took place on a cool October day on the grounds of the Heartwood Hall estate just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, and we love how they blended traditional rustic touches with a modern hipster aesthetic. Special thanks to Gideon Photography for sharing photos from the day with us! You can view even more details in the full gallery.

Emily and Ben originally met at a conference in Monterey, California. She ended up moving from Tennessee to California to intern at the church that hosted the conference, and Ben happened to be a youth pastor at the very same church. He waited a full year for her to complete her internship before asking her on their first date with an elaborate scavenger hunt. The duo exchanged vows back in Tennessee during the Fall of Emily’s twenty-first year, which had always been a dream for the bride.

Wow. We’ve looked at the photos a few times now, but the feeling doesn’t change. Tessa and Dan’s wedding transports us to a modern fairy tale forest each and every time, and we are absolutely in awe of all that lush greenery.  Set amid the breathtaking views of the Onteora Mountain House in Boiceville, NY, their September nuptials put a 21st century spin on classic rustic romance. We are delighted that Tin Sparrow Studio is sharing the images with us today.

Charming Hipster-Vintage Style Wedding by Lindsey Gomes Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Rylie, the beautiful bride in ringlet curls, was first inspired by all things nautical.  Then, her vintage side took over and she began collecting, collecting, collecting!  She and Jonathan married on a sunny day in Atascadero, California, in a vintage-inspired celebration that charmingly reminds me a little of nautical gone hipster. In a word, you could say, eclectic.  You’ll see what I mean.  These photos are worth thousands of words: all the handcrafted details are incredibly darling and the pair, cute-as-can-be.  I’m honored to share their sweet nuptials, captured by Lindsey Gomes Photography!

Rylie’s maids wore navy blue frocks from Anthropologie and a little local boutique; they carried eclectic bouquets of tulips, mums and succulents.  The bride carried a dreamer of a bouquet in ivory blooms and soft peach garden roses with petals for days.  Wearing a sharp charcoal suit and plaid bowtie, Jonathan was one well-dressed groom in his handsome hipster look!

A simple chandelier, and fabric strip backdrop set the stage for their ceremony under a magnificent oak tree at The Taft Ranch.  After an emotional walk down the aisle and heartfelt ‘I dos,’ the ceremony wrapped up with one heck-of-a-kiss.  I love those kind… with the head grab… makes me melt into a puddle.  The elated couple walked back up the aisle and headed over to the on-site barn for the reception.

Mara + Danny: A Portrait Session by Jonathan Canlas
Posted by Kate. Filed under Engagements, Photography

Our facebook feeds are just buzzing with holiday engagements… oh what a fun time of year!  Wedding planning is about to be in full swing.  Perhaps you’re newly engaged?  We’ve had our eye out for super stylin’ engagement sessions; here’s a portrait session by Jonathan Canlas that delighted us entirely.

Meet Mara.

… And Danny…

Their city hipster wardrobe is quite enviable (and perfectly unique for an engagement session).  Take note of the primary colors (looking so beautiful in film) and the very clever pattern matching.

We love how the photos showcase them.  Just them.  Proof that you don’t need to play with tons of props to get a completely memorable engagement album. Their style, their love of the city, and the sweetness between the two of them are utterly apparent, making for personal, vibrant, perfect portraits.

Thanks sooooo much to Jonathan Canlas for sharing these with us! Check out more from his ‘Film is Not Dead’ series over here!
