Janet and Stanley were married at Palmdale Estates in Fremont, Calif. on September 14. Even though the couple currently lives in New York City, they decided to plan a long-distance wedding where they grew up together. I’m probably some of the lucky few who meet their spouse in grade school,” Janet said. “The first time I met my husband, we were in 7th grade. During 8th grade, we certainly had a ‘thing’ going on between us, but it wasn’t until we were juniors in high school did we begin dating seriously. From that moment on, we have grown up together and at times apart, but we always seem to find our way back to one another.” The bride wore a lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a birdcage veil with feathers, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a cobalt blue tie to match the bridesmaids long chiffon dresses. Almost 250 guests witnessed the ceremony, and following dinner was served in an expansive open-aired tent surrounding the gardens. “I aimed to have elegance incorporated into my wedding design through lining my tent with chiffon, chiavari chairs and up-lighting,” she said. “Overall, I hoped to achieve the modern chic feel.” Reception tables were decorated with tall floral centerpieces of hydrangeas, roses, and delphinium, and yes, green apples and branches, gold charger plates, and ribbon-tied napkins. Plus, the classic white cake was 3-dimensional in design — how cool! See the full board here.

Debra + Mouly: A Cultural Rustic DIY California Park Wedding By Jasmine Lee Photography

Debra and Mouly married in India prior to their San Francisco Stern Grove park wedding. “Since my family was unable to travel to India, we knew we wanted to have a second ceremony in the U.S. for our family and friends here,” Debra said. “Stern Grove was a natural choice for us, as we love hiking in the redwoods … nestled within the city.” However, the couple wanted to incorporate some Indian details into their American ceremony and reception. Mouly’s sister wore a coral salwar and guests ate navaratna kurma, jasmine rice, and naan at the Trocadero Clubhouse. Debra chose a v-neck Vera Wang wedding gown accessorized with blue ruffled peep-toe flats, fabric flower hairpin in her low chignon bun, and an eco-friendly bouquet made of greenery and white hydrangeas and roses. They even enjoyed making DIY projects for their wedding, including the invitations, centerpieces, chalkboard table numbers, and burlap banners. “It added personality,” she said. At the end of the night, a frozen custard food truck provided dessert. Yum! See the full board here.
