* Color & Culture in Portola Valley by Volatile Photography

Posted on July 9th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

I’m awe-struck, awe-inspired and in love with today’s real wedding and so excited to share! Emily and Adam’s Indian-Jewish fusion wedding was a celebration of culture and tons of color… which just makes me so happy. A bold palette and unique, very personalized details made the day a total work of art.  In fact, they did much of the hard work themselves… Emily and her friends even sourced most of the florals from the San Francisco Flower Mart!  Kristy from Volatile Photography captured every last ounce of vibrant color… These photos are sure to brighten your day and inspire your palette!

Emily’s vibrant sari was her mother’s, from her wedding day 37 years ago. She also wore her grandmother’s jewels in combination with a few pieces she picked up at Sagar in Sunnyvale.

The couple took their vows under a traditional Jewish chuppah- with bright floral garlands hanging from the fabric.  Emily and Adam’s fresh approach to blending tradition was deeply personal and very alive.

The bride and groom met at a party that Emily’s roommates threw. Adam was standing near the door, just about to leave, when Emily spotted him from across the room.  She instantly new that she couldn’t let him get away and made a bee-line for the door to strike up a conversation (just like in a movie)!  Ever since that night, they’ve barely spent a day apart.

The vibrant, airy wedding was held at the Portola Valley Town Hall, a gorgeous architectural venue. Vivid blooms, patterns, texture, and eventually a room of colorfully dressed guests filled the hall with bright energy.

There is more to see from the day; head here to revel in the full story!

* Woodland Whimsy

Picture an early August wedding, overlooking the Catskill Mountains from Boiceville, New York.  The paper goods are printed with a scene of lush green pine trees, while pinwheels and colorful florals could be spotted throughout the day.  Leora and Ethan’s scenic celebration was the picture of rustic woodland whimsy paired with the charm of a vintage summer party!

* Under the Tuscan Sun

Posted on July 20th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Sometimes simple is really just so beautiful.  When I received these photos from Jessica and Jordan’s outdoor wedding in Tuscany, I fell in love with the Italian countryside… the olive branches… the simple sunflower florals…the very happy couple… and the sweet simplicity of their day.  The wedding was planned by Weddings in Tuscany and photographed by Lisa Poggi.  The couple’s interfaith ceremony was followed by an reception overlooking the stunning landscape.  Oh, to wed at an Italian villa…
