Erin and Andrew were married at the Darlington House in La Jolla, Calif. on August 23. ”The inspiration for the overall design of the wedding began with our venue, a historic Spanish estate built in 1925,” says Erin said. “There are beautiful trees and rose bushes amongst the property, and I wanted those exterior colors to stand out, so I kept the color palette really natural.” The bride wore an airy, a-line wedding gown with lace appliques, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, while the groom wore a black tuxedo, accessorized with a bow tie. ”For my three bridesmaids, I had them chose a dress on their own,” she said. ”It was important that our wedding party looked like individuals before looking like group (or an assembly line).” They each carried bouquets of roses, astilbes, and lots of greenery, including eucalyptus seeds, ivy vines, and clovers. ”The ceremony took place on a brick patio with a beautiful fountain as the backdrop,” Erin said.  ”I didn’t want an overly literal, color coordinated, conventional wedding. I wanted an effortless vibe that was both romantic and unique.” To beat the summer heat, guests were served sparkling watermelon hibiscus, and mint and cucumber basil flavored waters from beverage dispensers. Long reception tables were decorated with patterned runners, mercury glass centerpieces, and candles. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Try to be at peace with things you cannot fully control. Whether that be discussions around the guest list, issues with vendors, the weather, or just life events that do not ultimately revolve around your wedding (although you’d like to think they do). These things tend to create the most unnecessary stress,” she said. And after it was all said and done, it was time to honeymoon in throughout Africa, visiting Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. How adventurous! See the full board here.

DeYonne + Dorian: A Contemporary Black and Red California Restaurant Wedding By John Schnack Photography
Posted by czentgraf. Filed under Real Weddings

Photo: John Schnack PhotographyVenue: Katsuya by Starck

DeYonne and Dorian were married at Katsuya by Starck in San Diego, Calif. last spring. The bride wore a sweetheart floral applique mermaid wedding gown, accessorized with a blue Christian Louboutins and pear-shaped earrings, while the groom wore a classic black suit, accessorized with a gray bow tie (and glasses!). Bridesmaids stood out in their red peplum dresses, and groomsmen added a pop of color to their vests and pants with yellow bow ties. Following the restaurant ceremony, guests enjoyed “Lovely Lychee” signature cocktails and were escorted to their tables decorated with striped linens, floating candles, and rose and billy ball centerpieces in silver vases. Favor boxes filled with candies were at each place setting, but that didn’t stop anyone from having a bite or two of the cake and cupcakes! See the full board here.
