Amanda and Tyler were married in a converted warehouse with exposed brick walls, steel trusses, wood ceilings, and concrete floors on December 31 — New Year’s Eve. The bride wore a sweetheart lace wedding gown, accessorized with her hair down in loose curls along with a a pearl statement necklace and a pair of blush Badgley Mischka strappy sandals. Bridesmaids chose their own dresses to flatter their figures. Of course, glitter was encouraged! As guests arrived, they were greeted with the words, “Come as you are, stay as long as you can, we’re all family, so no seating plan.” The ceremony was glowing with cafe lights, while the reception was lit with crystal chandeliers. Wine bottles were spray painted in different colors and filled with roses, astilbes, anemones, and peonies. Table numbers also served as candle holders. Clever, right? Decorative frames hung above the dessert display of cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops, and kazoos and party hats were ready to go for the stroke of midnight. See the full board here.

Kirsten and David met through mutual friends the weekend of Lollapalooza at a nightclub in 2011 and wed two years later at Aria in downtown Minneapolis. The venue stood out with it’s original brick walls, crystal chandeliers, and whimsical art work. ”I wanted to find a way to soften the space,” Kirsten said. “We used strips on fabric on tables and hanging from the wall behind the ceremony space. I loved how it looked next to the brick!” She walked down the aisle wearing a slimming organza wedding gown with lace floral appliques, accessorized with a blush satin sash, to meet her soon-to-husband wearing a custom suit, shirt, and vest. Believe it or not, but the bouquets were ordered from Sam’s Club and assembled by family and friends. Following the ceremony, the loft was turned into the reception space. ”We collected beer and wine bottles (over 400) and spray painted them in my parents’ backyard for centerpieces,” she said. And in lieu of favors, the couple had pizza delivered from Pizza Luce at the end of the night. See the full board here.

Lori + Mike: A Vintage-Inspired Illinois Theatre Wedding By Matushek Photography

Lori and Mike were married on stage at Chicago Dramatists. How many couples can say that? “We didn’t want an extravagant affair or cookie cutter style of wedding,” Lori said. “I wanted personal touches with doses of originality.” The bride wore a tea-length wedding gown, accessorized with a birdcage veil and “something blue” shoes whereas the groom wore a three-piece suit with a plaid bow tie. Guests watched the ceremony from the theatre’s seats and applauded when they share their first kiss. The reception was held in a loft with floor to ceiling windows. To help create a rustic yet vintage vibe, Lori purchased burlap table runners and colored ribbons for chairs. “For the centerpieces, I envisioned aqua-colored mason jars, complemented with mismatched bud vases, with more of a wildflower style,” she said.
