Lovely Vineyard Wedding by elisa b Photography

Get ready for a dose of loveliness!  This East Coast pair married on a scenic vineyard in Virginia.  Maria and Will’s wedding featured a lovely purple palette and a sweet surprise end to the evening.  Here is their story in photos by elisa b Photography.Maria is a Vermont girl and dreamed of a wedding in an organic, natural setting with lots of pretty scenery.  They came across their perfect locale at Veritas Vineyards in Afton, Virginia.  Maria’s favorite color has been purple since she was little, so the couple drew inspiration from the vineyard to design an elegant, purple-infused wedding day!  Pat’s Floral Design was the creative mind behind all of the charming, feminine florals.Maria and Will met in Boston, where Maria’s cousin brought them together in a secret ‘set-up’ during a friendly gathering. Over the course of a gorgeous New England fall and a cold and snowy winter, they fell in love.  Will had long been planning a move to Virginia that spring for medical school, while coincidentally, Maria was accepted into a PhD program at the University of Virginia.  The stars were aligned!  Rain nearly threatened the outdoor ceremony, but after only a few drops of rain, it held up just fine.

After they were wed, everyone headed indoors to celebrate in a light-filled ballroom.  As a focal point, the florist put a gorgeous tree behind the head table and hung lanterns from the branches.  Candlelight and beautiful florals filled the room.  At the end of the evening, there was a fun surprise for guests:  the donut wagon from Carpe Donut!

Soft & Lovely Australian Wedding by ngg studios
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

This week’s real wedding comes all the way from Brisbane, Australia… and I’m so excited to share it with you!  Jess and Brendan planned a dreamy, romantic kind of day, with a beautiful soft color palette and eco-savvy styling.  Both down to earth types, their aim was to host a celebration that felt completely like them.  Fall in love with their gorgeous album by our Queensland faves, ngg studios.

The maid’s outfits were soft and feminine, chosen to accompany the relaxed, romantic theme of the wedding. Rather than having dresses, the girls wore skirts and tops… which, according to the bride, all of them have turned in to many different outfits since the wedding (you have to love bridesmaid attire that you can actually wear again)!  The bride’s friend designed all of the florals perfectly to her specifications, Jess nearly cried when she saw how beautifully they turned out.

Jess and Brendan married in front of a large tree in Kalimna Park.  The paper goods and cake carried thru a subtle, natural tree theme throughout the afternoon!

It was important for them to host an event that was beautiful and sustainable, so they held their reception at Forest Glen Organic Farm.  The tables were decorated simply with pinecones and wildflowers.  For favors, they offered guests herbs in plantable pots.  The afternoon was a picture of natural simplicity in all of its romance.

The cake was an incredible confection, a Jaffa Mud Cake with a tree design spanning the tiers (yum)!

Best wishes to the lovely couple!  See more of Jess and Brendan’s day  in our Real Wedding Gallery

A Fresh + Lovely Real Wedding by Kurt Boomer Photo

When I saw Denise and Michael’s album, I was totally taken with the soft colors, the beautiful natural setting, and the fresh photographs by Kurt Boomer.  While planning, the couple simply chose a few of their favorite things and planned the day around them: nature, outdoors, and things that are aged and well loved.  Enjoy this fresh and lovely real wedding of the week set in Pala, California…Denise found inspiration for her florals while at the farmer’s market one afternoon.  A vendor was selling locally-grown proteas at an amazing price; right then and there she ordered them for the bouquets and centerpieces! The organic feel of the wedding invitations by Wedding Paper Divas matched the lush scenery of the incredible outdoor venue, the Secluded Garden Estate.Denise and Michael’s romance is a sweep-you-off-your-feet kind of a story…  They met in Las Vegas.  It only took the duration of a dinner for Denise to know that he was the one!  A week later she moved across the country to be with him.
Michael’s prized 1952 Willys wagon made an appearance; it was the perfect spot for portraits. The couple wanted the reception to feel comfortable and relaxed, like an afternoon at their house with good food, music, drinks, and the people they love the most.
