Katy + Brian: A NYE Bash in Kansas by Jackie Cooper Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

As the weather heats up, we’re happily cooling off with this mid-winter Kansas wedding.  Katy and Brian first met as teenagers, dated for a time, them broke up during their first year in college.  After a five hear hiatus they reconnected on Christmas of 2008 and this time it was meant to last!   Since summer in Kansas is hot, and they wanted their reception to be an all-out bash, they set the date for New Year’s Eve.  It snowed a few inches the night before their wedding and it couldn’t have been more a beautiful wintry day.  They played up the end-of-year party theme with metallic accents and modern décor followed by an epic confetti drop at midnight!  Enjoy reveling in this gorgeous spread of photos by Jackie Cooper!

Since the pair reunited on Christmas, it was only fitting that they took their vows in the holiday-adorned Church of the Blessed Sacrament.  Katy wore a formal, full-length Justin Alexander gown for the ceremony, before changing into a party dress for the nighttime festivities.  Abode Venue was totally decked out for the celebration: minimalistic furniture made a modern impact  while lanterns and string lights lit up the dance floor!

DIY Wednesday: Metallic Fringe Dessert Toppers
Posted by Kate. Filed under DIY Wednesday, Do It Yourself

By: Victoria Hudgins

Bring a bit of glitz and glam to your wedding day with these metallic fringe toppers. Use them to top cakes, desserts or cupcakes for a dash of metallic flair.

This project was made using metallic streamers which you can find here.

Step One. Cut small slits up the side of the metallic streamers leaving 1 cm at the top of each slit. Work in small sections about 2 inches wide.

Step Two. Line the sections up in a row and cut each successive section about 1/4 inch shorter than the one before it.

Step Three. Place a wooden skewer at the end of the smallest section and begin rolling the streamers around the skewer until it reaches the end. Finish with a small piece of tape.

Enjoy the glitz and glimmer of the metallic toppers.

Lush Botanical Real Wedding
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Right now, this is my fave.  I’m pretty much obsessed with these photographs from Cat and Jon’s cool Santa Barbara wedding. The lush and vibrant botanicals… the metallic glass accents… the STUNNING film photography.  It’s almost overwhelming.  Cat and Jon made their day a blend of eclectic styling and neutral tones paired with florals the colors of a California sunset.   Thanks to Braedon Photography for capturing this day so brilliantly, and then, of course, for sharing it with us…!
