Amanda and Alex were married at Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn. last summer. The couple first met while attending the University of Northwestern St. Paul. “Throughout the next couple months, we got to know each other and he asked me to be his girlfriend – in the parking lot of Walmart!” Amanda said. “A year later, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.” The bride wore a lace sweetheart fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a pair of silver crystal studded platform pumps, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a white tie. Bridesmaids wore short pink chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses and dusty millers, but groomsmen wore light gray suits, accessorized with pink ties. “It drizzled a little bit in the morning into early afternoon,” she said. “I had always hoped it would rain in the morning of my wedding day.” Guests were greeted with a welcome table filled with motif ceremony programs and a chalkboard sign that encouraged them to hashtag their photos with #moewedding. The backdrop for the ceremony? A wooden cross. The newlyweds walked back down the aisle as husband and wife to “Something Beautiful” by NEEDTOBREATHE, and we’re off to the reception decorated with vintage vases and vessels centerpieces atop wooden slices. Plus, for entertainment, there was a photo booth! See the full board here.

Jess and Nick were married at the James J. Hill Library in St. Paul, Minn. last November. “Both of us are big bookworms,” Jess said. “So getting married in a library felt very ‘us.’ We wanted a relaxed and fun vibe in an elegant setting.  Above all else, we wanted our guests to enjoy themselves.  Fortunately, good food, a photo booth, and lots of dancing make for a pretty fun time!” The bride wore a lace v-neck wedding gown, accessorized with a jeweled hair comb in her hair along with a smokey eyes and red lip makeup look. So vintage glam! To keep warm, bridesmaids wore long charcoal gray Amsale dresses, accessorized with scarves. Groomsmen personalized their outfits with limited edition Puma shoes and fun socks, including pizza, dinosaurs, televisions, zebra stripes, and even bacon! Guests were surrounded by millions of books on shelves in the library, but only a few favorites served as centerpieces along with lamps, lanterns, and candles. See the full board here.

Kirsten + David: A Modern Purple Minnesota Loft Wedding By Emily Steffen Photography

Kirsten and David met through mutual friends the weekend of Lollapalooza at a nightclub in 2011 and wed two years later at Aria in downtown Minneapolis. The venue stood out with it’s original brick walls, crystal chandeliers, and whimsical art work. “I wanted to find a way to soften the space,” Kirsten said. “We used strips on fabric on tables and hanging from the wall behind the ceremony space. I loved how it looked next to the brick!” She walked down the aisle wearing a slimming organza wedding gown with lace floral appliques, accessorized with a blush satin sash, to meet her soon-to-husband wearing a custom suit, shirt, and vest. Believe it or not, but the bouquets were ordered from Sam’s Club and assembled by family and friends. Following the ceremony, the loft was turned into the reception space. “We collected beer and wine bottles (over 400) and spray painted them in my parents’ backyard for centerpieces,” she said. And in lieu of favors, the couple had pizza delivered from Pizza Luce at the end of the night. See the full board here.

Victoria + Matthew: A Rainy Day Purple Minnesota Garden Wedding By JaneCane Photography
Posted by Sarah Title. Filed under Real Weddings

It rained on and off throughout Victoria and Matthew’s fall wedding day, and they used it to their advantage in photos with umbrellas! The bride wore Vera Wang’s “Gemma” gown whereas her bridesmaids “wore one of five different dress styles . . with the hopes of creating a chic, mismatched look,” Victoria said. The outdoor ceremony was glowing with candlelight in hurricane vases as she walked down the aisle to met her groom and grandmother, who was the officiant. “Our wedding party was fantastic and embraced the chilly ceremony with smiles on their faces and not one complaint,” she said. Reception decor incorporated natural textures like tall curly willows and modern elements like mercury glass vases. “We had caramel-chocolate-peanut-butter apples made by family friends in Duluth waiting for each guest at each place setting,” she said. And a gold wedding cake that featured a topper of eggplant calla lilies. See the full board here.
