Taylor + Richard: A Rustic Red Beach Wedding by Keepsake Memories Photography
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Real Weddings

There’s something so warm and inviting about a Fall wedding, don’t you think? Today we’re smitten with Taylor and Richard’s October North Carolina nuptials, particularly because of the creative red centerpieces and the fact that the bride made her fascinator herself. Special thanks to Keepsake Memories Photography for sending over the photos! We think they capture the unique oceanside ceremony perfectly.

Katie + Alex: A Summery Southern Engagement Shoot by Almond Leaf Studios
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Engagements

Today’s gorgeous engagement shoot comes straight from the South—Chapel Hill, NC to be exact. Katie and Alex met as undergrads at the University of North Carolina (go Tarheels!), so when it came time to capture their pre-wedding bliss, ace photographer Elizabeth Marx of Almond Leaf Studios scouted three picture-perfect spots around campus.  We love the way they used simple outfits and backdrops—it really lets their love for each other (and those beautiful smiles!) shine through.

From the bride-to-be: Alex and I grew up about 20 minutes from each other in small and smaller towns in eastern North Carolina.  As close as we were geographically, and as intertwined as our families were in the local arts and athletics communities, it wasn’t until college that we (finally) met.  Our overlap at UNC Chapel Hill was very brief, but we were introduced by mutual friends during Alex’s senior year and my freshman year.  Post-grad, Alex and I both found ourselves in Charlotte (he beat me there by three years, naturally, and had secured a graduate degree in the meantime) and apparently we both needed a little nudging from our mothers (guilty, yes) to get us on our first date.  After sharing chips and salsa and a bottle of wine at a local Mexican restaurant, we realized that the saying is true—Mothers do always know best. And here it is, four years later, and we are getting hitched!

Sunflower Chic Real Wedding by Nathan Abplanalp Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

This love story is so. sweet.  My heart is literally melting.  Amber and John met in high school, eight years before they started dating.  They socialized in the same circles, attended church and several mission trips together, but it wasn’t until Amber’s last year of college until they had both developed strong feelings for one another.  They are both deeply devoted to their faith and currently work together doing campus ministry at the University of West Georgia.  The part that really made me melt:  As the unity portion of the ceremony, Amber and John washed one another’s feet as a vow to serve one another before themselves for the rest of their lives. The day was bright and cheerful, full of happy sunflowers and sweet sweet love.  A big thanks to  Nathan Abplanalp Photography for sharing with us!

Amber wore a beauty of a gown by Anjolique (that lace is super unique- love)! Her bridal party complemented in black lace frocks by ModCloth and carried bold sunflower bouquets.  It was sunny and warm in North Carolina; perfect weather for a summertime ceremony at The Arbors.

A Beach Wedding in The Outer Banks by Echard Wheeler
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

We are wild for purple… amethyst, plum, and violet… and of course we’re always delighted when a wedding album sweeps us away to the beach!  Marie and Nate’s wedding in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina was a blend of the two: gorgeous color and sweet East Coast scenery.  This Outer Banks wedding, photographed by Echard Wheeler, was beachy & intimate, with the perfect amount of casual elegance.

Marie brought elegance to the beach by wearing this classic Justin Alexander gown.  The bridesmaids, who flew in from all over the country, looked so pretty in plum-colored Alfred Sung dresses.  For the ceremony, the focus was on the vows and the amazing coastal setting.

This adorable couple met in Rocket Club in high school, and kept in touch throughout the years. After many years of talking and many moves around the country, Nate finally asked Marie on a date- they were married three years later!

Marie and Nate love the Outer Banks, and made it the highlight of the day.  After a beachfront ceremony, the reception was just steps away, indoors at the Pier House. They also really wanted to support local businesses, so they opted for saltwater taffy favors from Forbes Candies, florals from Bells and Whistles, and a menu of local seafood.  The cake from Argyle’s brought the beach theme inside.

Their special day began with a little drizzle, but ended up with sunshine and a warm breeze.  As evening came, indoor lanterns made the reception glow…

With the vibrant florals, amazing venue, and an adorably happy couple- this wedding was just filled with our favorite things! <3
