* Lindsay + Nick: A Fun NYC Park Wedding by Levi Stolove
Posted on May 30th, 2013 by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Real Weddings.
Lindsay and Nick’s early spring nuptials sum up everything we love about the surprises of personalized weddings. At first glance, the pretty pastel ceremony seems to be set in a secluded forest somewhere, but it’s actually in Upper West Side New York City! The duo married amongst family, friends, and tall trees at Fort Tryon Park, then followed up with a lively reception on the outdoor patio at the park’s New Leaf restaurant. They splurged on excellent photography and their dream venue (smart choices in our book) and kept the rest of the wedding costs at a minimum by enlisting guests to help with everything from the desserts to the reception music. Special thanks to Levi Stolove for sharing these wonderfully airy photos with us!
Lindsay and Nick first bonded over early morning lesson planning at the school where they both worked—he taught math and she taught English. After years of dating, they married in the park right across the street from that school! “The ceremony went by very quickly, but felt sweet and personal,” remembers the bride. “We were lucky that the Linden trees [in the park] bloomed a bit early.”
* Lauren + Mike: A Fuchsia and Black NYC-Themed Wedding by Calynn Berry
Posted on April 15th, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Q: What’s black, white, and hot pink all over? A: Lauren and Mike’s modern NYC-themed nuptials! Though this Manhattan-based couple married in Rochester, Michigan, the Big Apple was a major source of inspiration for their glam ballroom wedding. “Ever since I saw the Sex & the City movie, I knew that I wanted black bridesmaid dresses with bright fuchsia flowers,” says Lauren. With the help of Courtney at Petals Planning Company, the rest of the graphic decor followed suit! Thanks to photographer Calynn Berry for sharing her images of this metropolitan celebration.

* Day Two: NYC Bridal Market Top Ten {Part Two}

no. 6 A Love Letter to New York
It was crisp, clean lines and ‘pure, archetypal shapes’ at Amsale’s presentation of her American Metropolitan-inspired collection. Dress design, ‘distilled to its essence’ couldn’t be more exquisite, agreed?
no. 7 Print Obsession
I’m totally, utterly, and completely in love with these silk chiffon print dresses by Amsale… They are feminine and floaty all the while perfectly modern and chic. I can’t get enough!

no. 8 Crystallized Beauty
If you’ve never gotten up close and personal with a Rivini gown, I’d run (not walk) to the nearest retailer that offers this line. These are the kind of dresses that move like water and glisten like stars… For Fall 2013, designer Rita Vinieres worked with translucent layers and crystal embellishments to design a collection that ‘…feels like a snowflakes on ice… fragile and unique…’ The fronts (and the backs) of these dresses are equally incredible.
no. 9 Siren Silhouettes
Good golly these Kenneth Pool gowns are gorgeous. Designer, Amsale Aberra, kicked up the thermostat a few notches with silhouettes inspired by passion, drama, and seductive glamour. It was a delightful contrast to the tailored look of her namesake collection, something for every bride!
no. 10 Platinum Perfection
Day two wasn’t complete without a stop at Watters! Since just about everything in my closet is grey (sort of kidding), I couldn’t help but fall head over heels for this platinum mermaid fit gown and ‘gilded’ gemstone veil.

* Mara + Danny: A Portrait Session by Jonathan Canlas
Posted on December 27th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Engagements, Photography.
Our facebook feeds are just buzzing with holiday engagements… oh what a fun time of year! Wedding planning is about to be in full swing. Perhaps you’re newly engaged? We’ve had our eye out for super stylin’ engagement sessions; here’s a portrait session by Jonathan Canlas that delighted us entirely.
Meet Mara.
… And Danny…
Their city hipster wardrobe is quite enviable (and perfectly unique for an engagement session). Take note of the primary colors (looking so beautiful in film) and the very clever pattern matching.

We love how the photos showcase them. Just them. Proof that you don’t need to play with tons of props to get a completely memorable engagement album. Their style, their love of the city, and the sweetness between the two of them are utterly apparent, making for personal, vibrant, perfect portraits.
Thanks sooooo much to Jonathan Canlas for sharing these with us! Check out more from his ‘Film is Not Dead’ series over here!
