Amanda and Josh were married at Rancho Buena Vista Adobe in Vista, Calif. on March 28. “From the moment we walked through the gates, we had a great feeling about it,” Amanda said. “It had the ambiance we were looking for and we knew we wouldn’t have to do much more to create a gorgeous setting.” The bride wore a strapless fitted lace gown with casual wavy hair. She carried a pink and white bouquet made of peonies, roses, ranunculeses, hyacinthes, tulips, and freesias. Her ‘maids donned short muted pink dresses with white embroidery on the bodice. They carried bouquets of ranunculuses, roses, sweet peas, among other pretty blooms. Her groom and his men opted for tan dress pants and vests, and went without a tie for a more casual look. The two littlest attendants carried a burlap banner that read “Here comes the bride” before Amanda’s dad escorted her down the aisle to wed Josh in front of 175 friends and family members. The reception followed with a taco dinner and an iced bundt cake for dessert. Each table featured a DIY floral mason jar centerpiece with burlap and lace decor on top of a wooden slab. Amanda and Josh’s main priority was that everyone had a fabulous time. “I didn’t want to be stressing about everything being a particular color or wedding favors or fancy place settings,” Amanda noted. “What mattered is that everyone was able to get an invite, that we had good music, everyone was fed, and everyone was comfortable.” How sweet! Christy + Derrick: Vintage Jewel-Toned Outdoor Winter Wedding by Captured Photography by Jenny

Christy and Derrick were married outside in West Palm Beach, Fl. on January 11. The bride wore a long-sleeve gown with a lace bodice and a flowing skirt. Her hair was pulled back into a loose curly ponytail. ”My dress is incredibly special to me because not only is it my mom’s original dress, but my big sister also wore it!” Christy explained. The lace-edged veil was created by a seamstress and she carried a bouquet of plum and cranberry roses and peonies. Her best pals wore short colored dresses ranging from deep purple to navy blue, and they carried bouquets of light blue and purple hydrangeas and roses. Fun fact about the bridesmaids: they picked out their own dresses at various thrift stores. “I really wanted all the dresses to be thrifted, but its definitely a task finding dresses that fit the styles of 12 women,” Christy said. The groom and his men wore suits and vests of many colors, without jackets. They donned neck ties in various shades of blue. The couple exchanged vows in a unity ceremony outside in front of 100 guests. Christy and Derrick had one goal for their reception: make it feel like home. “Our big idea was that we wanted to bring the insides of our house to the outside,” Christy said. “Where walls couldn’t limit how many people were welcome.” They set up areas outside that acted as different spaces in a home and included a living room (cocktail lounge), a game room (checkers, anyone?), and a story fort (where guests could learn more about their love story). Many of the signs, including the guest book, were crafted by the couple. Guests received personalized mason jars, enjoyed Cuban food at wooden tables with mismatched china, and danced the night away. They indulged in a butter cream-frosted cake adorned with fruit and topped with small bird statues. “The whole day was filled with so much joy and celebration with just enough room to take breathers,” Christy said. Morgan + Zach: Rustic Outdoor Alabama Summer Wedding by J. Woodbery Photography

A. Bank; Floral Design: Ricky Whitley; Venue: Aldridge Gardens; Catering: Iz Catering; Reception Music: Mac’s Tracks; Officiant: Matt Butts; Cake and Cupcakess: Sweet Spot Confections

Morgan and Zach were married at Aldridge Gardens in Hoover, Ala. on September 1. The bride wore a fitted strapless lace gown with a chapel length train and a lace-edged veil. She wore her hair in loose waves and carried a bouquet of chamomile, mums, spray roses, and seeded eucalyptus. Her ‘maids were outfitted in short navy blue lace dresses with various necklines and carried a bouquet just like the bride’s. Her groom looked dapper in a Jos A. Bank khaki suit complete with a patterned navy tie, and his groomsmen matched perfectly! The ceremony took place under a tree outside as 150 guests looked on in white folding chairs. “I wanted our wedding to be romantic yet rustic,” Morgan explained. “Because it was outdoors, I wanted the decor and flowers to be an extension of nature and not overpower the natural beauty of the gardens.” Guests then enjoyed cocktail hour where they drank pink beverages out of mason jars. They were seated at round tables with white linens and blush flower centerpieces, that sat atop burlap fabric. The wedding party sat at a long banquet table facing the other guests. After dinner, guests indulged in a small two-tiered cake and lots of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes! Since both the bride and groom met while in school at University of Alabama, they had a fun twist on the average send-off. “For our farewell, all the guests were given Alabama spirit shakers and we walked through with guests on both sides of us while singing the fight song,”  Morgan said. Talk about a memorable exit! See the full board here.

Audra + Jeremy: An Intimate Outdoor Fall California Wedding by Melissa McClure Photography
Posted by Sarah Title. Filed under Real Weddings

Audra and Jeremy were married at Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, Ca. on November 1. “Both of us decided that we wanted a small, intimate wedding,” Audra said. Intimate it was, Audra and Jeremy chose to have their own private ceremony with just the two of them. “We knew it would be near impossible to get our immediate families in the same location,” Audra explained. “And we felt that it wouldn’t be fair to have one of our sides there, and not the other.” The bride opted for a strapless lace gown with an open back and accessorized with a neutral-colored sash with floral accents. She carried a bouquet made up of roses, succulents, scabiosa pods, billy balls, and anemones. Her groom donned a gray suit paired with a yellow tie and brown dress shoes. Following the ceremony held beneath the palm trees, the couple dined fireside and enjoyed champagne as well as a white fondant cake with fresh berries and personalized wire topper. Audra had no regrets about making her wedding day a private affair. “Dreams of a small intimate wedding? Do it,” she encouraged. “No one dictates how things need to be. It really is about the two people exchanging vows, and the magnitude of that.” See the full board here.
