Kelsey and Carder were married at The Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History followed by a reception at Stillwater Community Center in Stillwater, Okla. on April 13. ”Choosing to have our wedding in April in Oklahoma was a huge risk,” Kelsey said. “It’s known to pour in April, but it’s also known to be beautiful. I was so worried it was going to rain, and we would have to take all our pictures inside, but I woke up to the most beautiful day. It was sunny and 75 degrees. The weather was perfect, I couldn’t have asked for a better day.” The bride wore a sweetheart lace wedding gown, accessorized with a pearl necklace and shoulder-length veil, while the groom wore a three-piece gray suit, accessorized with a feather boutonniere. Guests were greeted to the ceremony with a chalkboard sign and were asked to grab paper cones of confetti to throw during the recessional. The backdrop was vintage door panels! ”I wanted my wedding to be very personal and intimate,” she said. “I visited my favorite shops in town and antique stores to get ideas. I loved the idea of hand making decorations.” Family photos were displayed on shutters, and items including a ribbon writer, telephone, and video camera decorated tables. The favors? CDs! Martha and Gabriel were married at Ledges State Park in Ames, Iowa last summer. They first met on a trip to China, where they became friends. “It wasn’t until we returned to the U.S. and worked out that friendship more that we both became interested in each other,” Gabriel said. “Once I finally figured that much out, I took her to coffee, and the rest was history! Ten months later we were married!” The bride wore a floral applique wedding gown with an illusion neckline and back, while the groom wore a white button-up, gray pants, and suspenders with an orange bow tie. “First objective was to keep the focus on Christ, and the true meaning of marriage,” he said. “Our secondary priorities were budget of course, and the fact that the wedding and most of the reception would take place outside. We simply had a general theme and color scheme, and really went with anything we liked!” Before the ceremony, a first look was captured by their photographer, who is also Gabriel’s sister! The ceremony itself included 200 guests! However, the reception was held in a shelter near a river following. ”It provided an amazing summer sunset view throughout most of the evening,” Gabriel said. Their first dance? “The Lime Tree” by Trevor Hill. See the full board here.
