Emily + Ray: A Rainy Day New York Boathouse Wedding By Jessica Lorren Organic Photography

Emily and Ray had every intention of saying their “I do’s” outside on Prospect Park’s dock, but due to weather complications, the ceremony was moved inside the boathouse. The intimate, candlelit space next to the French doors was filled with mercury glass vases, frosted goblets, and glass tumblers spilling over with red and pink peonies and garden roses. The couple even incorporated their Chinese and Korean traditions into the ceremony to honor their parents. Emily wore an Enzoani lace mermaid wedding gown, Ray wore a classic, black-bow tie Hugo Boss tuxedo, and bridesmaids wore Aidan Mattox gold-sequinned dresses. During their first dance, “[we] danced with our parents to Laura Fygi’s ‘Love You For Sentimental Reasons,'” Emily said. “It was the first time either of us had been in such proximity to our usually reserved Asian parents for any lengthy amounts of time. . .it is perhaps my fondest memory of then night.” And a way for their parents to honor their wishes of incorporating Western traditions into the wedding. Guests enjoyed not one, not two, but THREE wedding cakes — “chocolate cake with layers of chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries and pistachio cake with layers of rosewater buttercream frosting and fresh raspberries.” Yum! Jessica + Matthew: Whimsical Eastern Shore Wedding by Hudson Nichols Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

As the weather warms up, we can’t help but daydream about the most idyllic places on the planet to spend the summer months.  You know, coastal spots with harsh winters that become completely alive with gorgeous foliage, visitors, and cool water lapping up on the- for a brief few months- warm sandy shores.  Jessica and Matthew’s May wedding transports us to such a spot- Trappe, Maryland, where they married on a sunny day at their family farm.  We’re completely taken by the entire event, from their easy-breezy style to the pops of whimsical, vibrant color. And it doesn’t seem that it could have been captured more perfectly than it was in these sunlit photos by Hudson Nichols Photography.

Jessica glowed in an organza Badgley Mischka gown, and had her long curls sideswept in a pretty low-do.  Much like the rest of the event, she emanated an effortless beauty.  The florals, with pops of color inspired by a desert sunset, were sourced from a local farm.  The bride lended her creative touch to many of the day’s details, designing the romantic country wedding of their dreams in a place they both hold dear in their hearts.

And since it is almost May, we thought we’d go ahead and fulfill the rest of that idiom with some pretty pink flowers! Eliza and Don’s Meridian House wedding was largely inspired by the lovely peony. “They really brought a smile to the bride’s face,” says Bash event coordinator Terri Eaves, “and most of the details were planned with them in mind.” Scroll through for highlights from their 1940’s-esque affair, all captured beautifully by Eli Turner Studios, then visit the full gallery for even more romantic details.
