Springtime Chic Farm Wedding by Bear Flag Farm and Gertrude & Mabel Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Looking at these photos, I feel like I’m in a dream.  There’s nothing more surreal or idyllic than two people completely in love, celebrating their commitment among lavender fields and sycamore trees, on the lush grounds of a little piece of organic paradise.  That’s the Bear Flag Farm for you.  Jessica got hooked early on the idea of a rustic, chic, outdoor wedding at a sustainable local farm and Mike quickly got on board. They found the Winters, California venue and fell head over heels for the magical setting, not to mention, they loved the farm to table style menu, décor, and details.  Gertrude & Mabel Photography was onsite to capture every angle of gorgeousness.

Jessica wore an exquisite, all-lace Monique Lhuillier gown, while her maids dressed up in sunny yellow frocks by Amsale.  Lush, colorful bouquets of peonies, succulents, roses, and blue thistle splashed the late spring/early summer palette all over.

The pair was introduced by a mutual friend at a coffee shop in Providence, Rhode Island.  They dated for two and a half years, sharing their mutual love of travel, music, the outdoors, adventure and silly youtube videos, before Mike proposed to Jessica while on a cross country skiing trip in New Hampshire.

After marrying under a canopy of fresh blooms, surrounded by the scent of lavender, the couple and their photographer took advantage of the late afternoon sunlight and blissful setting.  A celebration ensued with lawn games, cocktails, and hours of eating, dancing, and merriment in the glow of lantern and starlight.

A Cherry Blossom-Infused D.C. Real Wedding by Michelle Lindsay Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

If you haven’t seen this week’s cherry blossom-infused real wedding by Michelle Lindsay Photography, we’ve put together some highlights for you just below. Elizabeth and Andrew envisioned a day that was classic with a few dramatic twists.  They went classically romantic with a pink, black and white palette, while the bold cherry blossom décor by Sidra Forman was dramatic and breathtaking. Enjoy!

Elizabeth’s gorgeous, two-piece  Monique Lhullier gown and veil featured sweet daisy accents, (floral replicas were later found on the cake)!  The bridesmaids looked formal and sophisticated in black beauties by Amsale.  There was a long, glorious aisle for the bridal party to walk down at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in D.C.

For the reception, the couple celebrated their love of dinner parties and D.C!  In fact, they met at a dinner party just after Andrew moved to town. On the night of their first meeting, they spent the night in true D.C. fashion, discussing politics and drinking wine. The rest, as they say, is history!  The gorgeous cherry blossom reception centerpieces paid tribute to the city, and the elegant king’s tables created an intimate dinner party feel.

Elizabeth and Andrew love history and tradition- the bride wore a sixpence in her shoe that has been passed down through three generations and their cake topper was a 50 year old heirloom!  Needless to say, a venue that exhibited the history of our nation’s Capitol was perfect- the Hay Adams provided views of all the monuments on the mall.

What could be better?  Springtime in D.C., cherry blossoms everywhere, and a sweet Monique Lhuillier gown?  We’re all over it!  The superb event planning by Jessica at Simply Chic Events ensured the day flowed without flaw.  See more from Elizabeth and Andrew’s gorgeous wedding day here…

A Sunset Real Wedding in Maui by James Rubio
Posted by Kate. Filed under Destination Weddings, Real Weddings

I’m so happy to have not one, but two incredible destination weddings to share with you this week!  Jocelyn and Frederick’s wedding is super special to us, as she is a beloved hostess on Project Wedding.  In fact, you might remember when we featured her bio! It’s packed with all of her inspirations and planning… so if you’re as in love with their big day as I am, you’ll definitely want to pour over every last bit of her planning process.  In the meantime, I could look at these photos by James Rubio for days…
Jocelyn looks so utterly happy…  I love how Aeleise at Hair Love Art Studio worked with her natural curl in a pretty, upswept style.  And those florals…I’m gushing!  Dellables used peach dahlias, gold ranunculus, white and green orchids and bold pink peonies to design the bouquets.   The soft ceremony palette seamlessly transformed into richer hues for the reception, with common threads of coral, peach, and gold. Jocelyn and Frederick married in an early evening ceremony, under an archway of coral fabric and hanging orchids…  too pretty for words if you ask me!These two met at work and, according to Jocelyn, they drove each other crazy from the start.  They were constantly at odds with one another.  But, the more they talked, the more chemistry they realized they had.  Eventually they started to chat on the phone… which turned into a nightly thing… and it was evident that a romance was brewing.  Five years later, Jocelyn and Frederick married in Maui!

The couple celebrated their vows with a nighttime party at Mala Wailea.  Soft golden uplighting and more beautiful hanging flowers created a romantic ambiance.

A special thanks to Jocelyn for being such a fabulous hostess on PW and for sharing your day with us!

Color + Culture: A Styled Wedding Shoot by Jen Huang and Poppies & Posies
Posted by Kate. Filed under Photography, Wedding Inspiration

A few weeks ago, I headed to Malibu to hang out with Jen Huang and a group of her fabulous workshop attendees.  Naturally, on the docket was a gorgeous little photoshoot with some of the best creatives around:  Poppies & Posies, My Sweet and Saucy, and Paperfinger.  What a dream…

Inspired by color, culture, and art… here’s a peek at the shoot, but the full gallery of photos can be found here.Aude and Gilles are a darling couple… full of love and affection.  Aude was styled in simple, flowing Ivy & Aster dress {Via Lovely Bride} and an amazing boho-chic headpiece by Jennifer Behr.  Gilles looked so handsome in a bowtie by BoutaughAude makes such an incredibly pretty bride.  Jess Wilcox styled her soft waves and vibrant red lipstick to complement the relaxed, colorful setting.  (Definitely a pinworthy look)!  Below: the table spread.  Paperfinger calligraphed menus and table numbers inside organic, watercolor frames.  The centerpiece overflowed with colorful florals, including big bright peonies and golden ranunculus. Just can’t get enough of that rich palette!

The afternoon was topped off by an oh-so-perfect, marvel of a masterpiece by My Sweet and Saucy.

Take in the full spread of photos over here

Thanks so much to the very talented and very kind Jen, and this incredible team:
