Roz and Joe were married at Peterson Farms in Woodland, Wash. on August 10. “I am a DIY-er at heart and approached much of the planning ready to get my hands dirty — and boy did I!” Roz said. “From assembling the save-the-dates, to designing and printing the own invitations, staining the centerpiece crates, tying tags on to each party favor, and painting a door for us to walk through at the ceremony, when the wedding day arrived, we felt like we’d earned it!” The bride wore a strapless lace a-line wedding gown, accessorized with an long-sleeve overlay, while the groom wore a tan vest and pants, accessorized with a teal bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long peach chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of dahlias and daisies. Guests were greeted with a wooden sign post that directed them to the outdoor ceremony. “It went off without a hitch — our biggest gamble was asking my 4- and 2-year-old nephews to walk our dogs down the aisle and they did it perfectly,” she said. “My brothers officiated and did an amazing job mixing in humor and stories about us, as well as getting the ‘official’ parts done like they’d done it a million times!” Fun fact: The couple kept their vows a secret. Why did the newlyweds love their venue? “The barn is owned by a local family that had recently immaculately renovated their over 100-year-old milk barn for community events, and they’d only done a few weddings to date,” Roz said. “Right when we pulled into the property, we were sold. The grounds were immaculately groomed and flowers were blooming everywhere we looked . . .the exposed beams on the upper level of the barn were beyond my wildest dreams for a reception venue. We were sold and booked the date on the spot!” Tables were decorated with burlap and lace runners, vintage dinnerware and silverware, and blue mason jars to “fill with whatever tastes right.” Assorted pies and a popcorn bar were served as dessert alternatives AND a bonfire was lit outside to roast marshmallows.
