* A Sweet Country Chic Real Wedding by Katelyn James Photography
Posted on February 26th, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Trey and Kiersten have the sweetest of love stories… They met as freshman in high school when Trey attended Kiersten’s church. One look at Kiersten and Trey told his father that he was going to marry her one day! Better than any of the best fairytales, the two tied the knot in a country chic celebration in Scottsville, Virginia with Katelyn James on hand to document the details, moving moments, and all that highschool sweetheart love…

The day was idyllic- not too hot, not too cold- with a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the backdrop. The event was held at Trey’s parents’ summer camp– the place where they started dating. After Kiersten dressed in her gorgeous White by Vera Wang gown, the pair had a ‘first look’ in the camp’s corn maze. Kiersten says, ‘Trey was already there waiting for me, after rounding the corner, we saw each other, and he literally ran to me! Best thing ever! We got to share a few very sacred moments together before we officially started the adventure of the day!’
Instead of lighting the traditional unity candle, the couple chose to wash each others feet in devotion and servitude, a loving act that symbolized their marriage. They invited everyone and anyone to join in on the ceremony, every square inch of straw bale seating was taken!
* Classy Summertime Picnic Party by Anne Roberts Photography

Colleen and Zachary envisioned a summertime wedding reminiscent of a classy dinner party, but combined with the relaxed charm of a picnic. The outcome? Hands down one of the most sophisticated, unique, and lovely weddings I’ve seen! We’re overjoyed to feature their love story and beautiful wedding day photos by Anne Robert Photography as this week’s Real Wedding of the Week…

Colleen has always loved the small details that make a wedding special. Together with event designer, Vicki Grafton of My Simple Details, she went to work implementing the dozens of unique elements that imbued the day with classy, summer style. When Colleen first started planning, she found a photo of a bride and groom dancing on a checkered floor. She was captivated; the vision and color palette unfolded from there. Black and white gingham accents appeared throughout the day, and contrasted with a palette of champagne bridesmaid’s dresses and dramatic crimson florals. Colleen’s look was feminine and romantic, and she carried a dreamy, lush bouquet by Petals & Hedges.

After a traditional ceremony at the same church that Colleen’s grandparents wed, the happy couple and their guests traversed from D.C. to Arlington’s Hendry House for a dashing reception filled to the brim with darling details. From the relaxed charm of the red bicycle and gingham napkins, to the refined sophistication of calligraphed place cards and casual-elegance centerpieces, the party was overwhelmingly stylish.

Swoon.. (And the bride’s first dance dream came true)! There’s much more to see, enjoy the full feature here…

* Sweet Southern Picnic Wedding
Posted on July 19th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
I can’t stop marveling at this nearly all-DIY wedding! The bride, Megan, is an aspiring floral designer, so she created the bouquets and arrangements and hand made so many other sweet things like drink flags and bunting! Joined by Adam, the handsome groom, the couple wed outdoors at the Rye Patch in Aiken, South Carolina. The ceremony was followed by a charming picnic reception. Delight in all the DIY goodness below! A special thanks to A Fresh Take Photography for sending this our way ♥
