Lauren + Doug: Luxe All-Ivory Real Wedding by lunaphoto
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Lauren and Doug’s La Jolla wedding was a picture of all things timeless, elegant, and sophisticated. The bride’s lacy Ulla-Maija Couture gown was the inspiration for the event design and from that, a monochromatic palette, dramatic floral elements, and cascade of luxe style elements unfolded.  The talented team of Paula and Michael at lunaphoto was in place to photograph what the couple deems ‘the most magical night of their lives,’ and the photos of the dreamy pair, epic architecture, and romantic candlelight are nothing less than magical. Soak up just a few of our favorite shots in this peek, but be sure to head over to the full gallery for more!

Eliza + Don: A Pretty Pink Peony Wedding By Eli Turner
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Happy Monday, PW readers! It’s a little drizzly here in DC, but you know what they say about April showers. And since it is almost May, we thought we’d go ahead and fulfill the rest of that idiom with some pretty pink flowers! Eliza and Don’s Meridian House wedding was largely inspired by the lovely peony. “They really brought a smile to the bride’s face,” says Bash event coordinator Terri Eaves, “and most of the details were planned with them in mind.” Scroll through for highlights from their 1940’s-esque affair, all captured beautifully by Eli Turner Studios, then visit the full gallery for even more romantic details.

Shabby Chic Sophistication: A Real Wedding by Love Life Images
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

For Marlysa and John, it was love at first sight.  Like in a movie, the pair met and locked eyes at a bar in Arlington, Virginia and things have never been the same.  The two are spontaneous types, and once they were ready to move into the next chapter of their relationship, it was decided that they would host a wedding in three short little months!  Thankfully, John’s sister is one of the creative gals behind Simply Chic Events, and she helped them to pull off a gorgeously shabby chic wedding at The Meridian House in Washington D.C.  Jennifer Domenick of Love Life Images captured their story of heartfelt emotion and fabulous style in dramatic photos.

Marlysa looked stunning in a Victoria Nicole gown and Old Hollywood glam-style hair and makeup.  After the first look on a marble staircase, they headed to the courtyard to make an emotional, lifelong commitment in front of eighty five loved ones.

Guests were greeted by a well styled lounge for pre-party refreshments and relaxation.  The weather couldn’t have been better for a nighttime affair and the grounds were covered in blooming flowers, stone walkways, and an arched linden tree grove.

Pure Romance at the Houston Zoo by Jen Huang Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Naomi and Rachel’s Houston Zoo wedding is nearly too romantic for words.  The moment I caught the photos on Jen Huang’s gorgeous blog, I knew I had to share this beautiful story.  The couple married in a flurry of all things feminine and sophisticated in front of eighty loving guests near the reflection pools. Candlelight and soft florals highlighted the natural beauty of the venue.  The couple is sweet as can be, and we’re entirely honored to witness their deeply heartfelt union in this way.  (The photos do such an incredible job showing how so-in-love they are).  Add in the dress, the handmade details, the florals — I can’t help but swoon!

Naomi dreamed of a blush gown, but most of the dresses she tried on weren’t  available in the color. Unexpectedly, this dramatic Ines Di Santo ball gown swept her right off her feet.  The bridesmaids wore adorable ruffle Eden Maids frocks, complementing the look just so.

Naomi is a former floral designer, and it shows! She handled the vision and design, while Liz from The Nouveau Romantics executed it all flawlessly. The bouquet is a soft, stunning combination of  Juliet Garden Roses, Auswater Garden Roses, White O’hara Garden roses, Peonies, Ranunculus and more!

In January 2010, Naomi and Rachel met at a bar in Houston. Fast-forward to March 2011: Rachel surprised Naomi by packing both of their bags and picking her up from work. She had secretly contacted Naomi’s boss and requested a few days off of work for her. They took a long weekend at a private cottage, and Rachel proposed at a picnic she prepared! After fifteen months of diligent planning, they wed!

The couple shared these special quotes when taking their vows (and I’d be lying if I said that didn’t want to snag them for my own vows one day)…

Naomi to Rachel: “Even now, all possible feelings do not yet exist. There are still those that lie beyond our capacity and imagination. From time to time, when a piece of music no one has ever written, or a painting no one has ever painted, or something else impossible to predict, fathom or yet describe takes place, a new feeling enters the world.  And then, for the millionth time in the history of feeling, the heart surges and absorbs the impact.”—Nicole Krauss, The History of Love

Rachel to Naomi: “I love you also means I love you more than anyone loves you, or has loved you, or will love you. And also, I love you in a way that no one loves you, or has loved you, or will love you. And also, I love you in a way that I love no one else, and never have loved anyone else, and never will love anyone else.” –Johanathan Safran Foer, Everything is Illuminated
