Mandy and Jens were married at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, N.C. on October 5. The bride wore a sweetheart a-line wedding gown with a ruffled skirt, accessorized with a polka dot fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a yellow button-up shirt and gray pants, accessorized with suspenders and a patterned tie. The only ‘maid wore a short black chiffon dress and carried a bouquet of roses and billy balls. Even the couple’s Yorkshire Terrier pup joined with a fashionable collar and leash. Guests were greeted with a wooden arrow sign that directed them to the ceremony and reception. To say Mandy made a grand entrance was an understatement — she arrived in a horse-drawn carriage. To symbolize their unity, they combined mason jars of sand together. The reception followed underneath a pavilion. Picnic tables were decorated with beer and wine bottles wrapped in twine, lace doilies, bird’s nests and eggs, and wooden slices with “W+M” carved into each one. “No two bottles were the same,” Mandy said. Dinner was served BBQ-style including, chicken, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, and rolls. Everyone was encouraged to sign a square for a quilt that was to be sewn together as a keepsake (and in lieu of a guest book). After the now Mr. and Mrs. performed their first dance, the father-daughter dance was performed, but with a twist — her mother too.  “Even though it’s not tradition, our closeness made it only right to dance with her the perfect song,” she said.
