High school sweethearts Leigh and Kyle were married at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas last fall. The bride wore a sweetheart lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a floral sash and chapel-length veil in her loose blonde curls, while the groom wore a gray suit, accessorized with a striped tie. Bridesmaids wore short dresses in various neutral colors and carried bouquets of roses, ranunculuses, and dusty millers. Due to inclement rainy weather, the ceremony took place inside underneath a gazebo with aisles lined in lanterns. Fun fact: Kyle is a professional baseball player. So, of course, the newlyweds wanted to incorporate this into their reception. Guests were asked to write well wishes on bases. Tables were decorated with sequin linens, tall candelabra centerpieces, and mercury glass candles. In addition to the five-tiered cake, there were also cookies. At the end of the night, it wasn’t sparklers that sent them off to their honeymoon in Fiji it was ___ . Fill in the blank! (Hint: It’s a nod to a sport.) See the full board here.

Courtney + Cory: A Doctor Who Inspired Winter Texas Historic Mansion Wedding By Catie Bartlett Photography

Courtney and Cory were married at Thurman’s Mansion in Driftwood, Texas on March 16. “We knew we wanted a Doctor Who-inspired wedding, but didn’t want to overwhelm guests with our fandom,” Courtney said. Fun fact: It’s a British science-fiction television series. The bride wore a ruffled halter wedding gown, accessorized with a birdcage veil, while the groom wore a gray suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched navy blue dresses and carried bouquets of baby’s breath. ”Our wedding day was a beautiful yet cold day,” she said. “The sunshine was great, but the wind was freezing. We were thankful it was sunny though because our rehearsal the day before was drizzle and overcast weather.” Since they both are teachers, of course, they incorporated chalkboards. Guests were greeted to the ceremony with one that said, “Sealed for all time and space.” ”We were worried that our sand ceremony hourglass was going to blow over,” Courtney said. “But our pastor stepped in and made sure everything went off without a hitch.” Dinner and dancing followed with BBQ fare and a 3-dimensional police call box station cake. In lieu of centerpieces and a guest book, picture frames featured quotes and fill-in-the-blank Mad Libs were at each place setting. The newlyweds performed their first dance to “Close Your Eyes” by Michael Buble and exited through a sea of sparklers at the end of the night. See the full board here.

Sara and Michael were married at Vuka in Austin, Texas last fall. ”We went back and forth between a casual wedding or a fancy affair,” Sara said. “In the end, we decided that we wanted to go out with a bang and a large celebration, a once-in-a-lifetime party with nods to vintage glamour.” The bride wore an a-line wedding gown with an illusion back, accessorized with a jeweled headpiece, while the groom wore a custom made black suit, accessorized with a bow tie and top hat. Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched short dresses and carried bouquets of dahlias and lots of greenery. ”It rained the whole week up to our wedding, and on the day-of, it was just perfect,” she said. “Every little hiccup in the morning of, like stepping on the train of my dress in mud, didn’t matter because it was so beautiful outside. Then when Michael and I met at the Umlauf Sculpture Gardens for our first look pictures, it was just perfection from that moment on.” The couple incorporated several Jewish traditions into their ceremony, including standing underneath a chuppah and breaking the glass. Following the nuptials, guests were escorted to the reception via a marching band. Farm tables were decorated with a combination of arrangements, lanterns, and jars of honey at each place setting, which also doubled as favors. ”We both felt at the end of the day like we had been in a dream,” Sara said. “Imagine being surrounded by everyone you love, all the things that tickle your senses, and finally merging with much anticipation with your partner.” See the full board here.

Nicole and Eric were married in a traditional church ceremony at St. Michael’s Episcopal followed by a reception at Old World Theatre in Austin, Texas last spring. The bride wore an a-line strapless lace wedding gown, accessorized with a fingertip veil, while the groom wore classic black-tie suit. Almost all the floral arrangements, from the bouquets to centerpieces, featured calla lilies, roses, and berries in bold and bright pinks and greens. Cocktail hour included a self-serve popcorn buffet with all the fixings. Guests were then escorted to their seats via cards atop wine corks. Each table was named after the couple’s favorite restaurants, bars, landmarks, etc. like SoCo Bats, Esther’s Follies, and ACL Festival. The fare? BBQ, of course! Plus, the favors were homemade seasoning rubs. See the full board here.
