Posted by Kate. Filed under Wedding Dress

{Continued from Part One}

no. 6 A Play of Fabric + Texture

At the always-anticipated Douglas Hannant show, we saw a rich play of fabric and textured details.  Below: A stunning cream moiré mermaid gown with embroidered and beaded bodice and sleeves

no. 7 Ballgowns Done Beautifully by Lazaro

This season there were dozens and dozens of ballgowns featured on the runway, but Lazaro’s full-skirted beauties are always like a dream…layers of tulle straight from a fantasy…

no. 8 Runway Trend: Sheer

Haley Paige pushed the envelope this market with two very transparent, made-for-the-runway looks.  They received quite the response, and, at the end of the presentation, Haley was wildly applauded for her artistry.

no. 9 Blooming Elegance

As if the Marchesa collection could get any more gorgeous, the cascade of luscious, oversized blooms catapults this gown right into our top ten!

no. 10 Bridesmaids Go Bold

Last but not least, I love the bold hues I’m seing for bridesmaids!  Here are four looks from the JLM Runway– the final show of day one.

Hankering for more fashion?  Stay tuned for three more days of recaps and check out the full collections that will be appearing here.

Chevron, Succulents + True Love: A Real Wedding by This Modern Romance
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Get ready to fall hard for Andrea and Eric’s rustic chic meets modern trend wedding; I know I sure have. Andrea and Eric met in nursing school and after graduation, worked in the same hospital.  Their early dates were filled with climbing, camping, and outdoorsy fun.  In the first two weeks, they even joked that they’d probably end up married!  Andrea always envisioned a barn wedding, but soon found that they are hard to come by in Southern California.  Finding Strawberry Farms Golf Club was a dream come true!  After reveling in blog post after blog post and searching for savory etsy inspirations, a day of rustic style, trendy accents, and sun-kissed love unfolded.  Stephanie Williams’ photography is always breathtaking, lovely, perfectly modern yet romantic as the name suggests…

Honey and Poppies brought the golden yellow palette to life with the most charming combinations of succulents, billy balls, and tiny daisies.  These whimsical paper goods by Cheer Up Cherup set the tone for the relaxed, outdoor wedding day.

An emotional, sunlit ceremony took place in front of a rustic backdrop built by Eric’s father.  After, the couple posed for loads of darling portraits.  It’s safe to say that the camera likes them very, very much, these couple shots look entirely effortless.  I especially love the blissful luminosity in the photo above.

A fabulous barn reception followed, their rustic chic/trendy style poured thru in every detail!

Before the evening was over, guests enjoyed an absolutely adorable spread of mini desserts by, none other than, Sweet and Saucy Shop, and fun on the dance floor.  Andrea says, ‘We didn’t have a huge budget for our wedding but I really think we spent money in all the right places and ended up with a wedding that was just what we wanted. Also I can’t stress enough how important photography is. The whole day rushed by so fast and I am so glad I have the beautiful pictures to remember all the details. If you’re going to splurge anywhere it should be on photography!’

Utterly charmed? That’s most certainly a yes on our end. ♥ Don’t miss the rest of the photos over here.

Fashion Friday: Sheathy and Chic
Posted by Kate. Filed under Wedding Dress

The classic sheath silhouette made a comeback on the Spring 2013 runways.  A great sheath dress reminds me of refined elegance, maturity, and sophistication…  Traditional sheaths fit close around the hips and taper toward the hemline, creating a very tailored look.  However, a bit of room and flow at the hem is more figure- flattering for a bride with some curves.

Are you thinking of a sheath?  One of these just might fit your fancy!

no. 1 Carolina Herrera no.2 Oscar de la Renta no. 3 Monique Lhuillier

no. 4 Elizabeth Fillmore no. 5 Rafael Cennamo no. 6 Amsale

no. 7 Monique Lhuillier no. 8 Theia no. 9 Romona Keveza

no. 10 Temperley London no. 11 Mark Zunino no. 12 Marchesa

no. 13 Theia no. 14 Elizabeth Fillmore no. 15 Sarah Janks

no. 16 Amsale no. 17 Romona Keveza no. 18 Christos

What’s your take?  Are you a sheath kind of gal?

Wishing you a lovely little weekend…
