Sandy and Paul were married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse in Santa Barbara, Calif. on February 14. The bride opted for a simple, yet elegant look donning a short-sleeved lace dress with a birdcage veil. Her hair was in a twisted updo and she carried anemones, lisianthus, sweet peas, and greenery including ferns, kale, and pittosporum. The groom looked handsome in a gray suit with a pale blue satin neck tie and classic pocket square. “We were inspired by the simple and practical weddings of our grandparents’ generation,” Sandy said of their simple approach. “We researched city hall locations in the greater Los Angeles region and decided that the Santa Barbara courthouse met all of our criteria.” After signing the marriage license and officially tying the knot, the newlyweds took some memorable photos at the Santa Barbara Mission and in spots overlooking the ocean. “We were able to focus on the commitment that we were making to each other on the day of our marriage,” Sandy said. They enjoyed a personalized one-tier cake and enjoyed an intimate dinner in town. They also spent a romantic evening together at a local inn. A larger celebration for friends and family members was held later in the summer. The couple is looking forward to creating memories together as husband and wife. “I have a vision of us when we are 80 years old, going back to Santa Barbara for our traditional anniversary getaway,” Sandy said. Erica + John: Elegant Lavender Valentine’s Day Wedding by Cindy Lee Photography
Posted by Sarah Title. Filed under Real Weddings

Photos: Cindy Lee Photography; Venue: Palladium Saint Louis; Planner: Maggie Echwald with the Palladium; Gown: Allure Bridals from The Ultimate Bride; Shoes: Valentino; Groom’s Attire: Jos A. Bank; Flowers: Soulard Florist; Jewelry: David Kodner; DJ: Crucial Entertainment; Cake: Sarah’s Cake Shop; Bridesmaid Dresses: Custom dresses from Little Ruffles Bridal on Etsy; Hair: Rachel Shepard; Makeup: Stephanie Jacobsmeyer

Erica and John were married at the Palladium Saint Louis in St. Louis, Mo. on February 14. The bride looked stunning in an all-lace strapless gown with long wavy hair and a beaded trim veil. She carried a bouquet of roses, peonies, silver brunia balls, hypericum berries, and lamb’s ear. Her closest girlfriends opted for custom chiffon gowns in lavender and gray. The groom and his men donned gray suits with mix-and-match purple patterned neck ties. “I loved being hands on, fully involved in the creation and design of my wedding,” Erica said. “Though I drove myself crazy doing all the small projects, I would do those projects again!” The pair tied the knot in a big modern space with purple uplighting. A reception followed, and the wedding party sat at a head table. Other guests looked to the chalkboard to find their escort cards, where they were then led to round tables with hydrangea and curly willow centerpieces. “We strove to create a wedding which reflected our unique and individual personalities blended together as one,” Erica explained. The room was full of wintry details, including a snowflake light pattern that was projected on the wall. The groom’s little sister played Chinese music during dinner to keep guests entertained. After they ate, the newlyweds cut their three-tier cake adorned with flowers. Erica’s best advice? “Remember that the day is about you and your husband. Make it a reflection of yourself and your personality.” We couldn’t agree more! See the full board here.

Megan + Mike: A Romantic Red Winter Pennsylvania Library Wedding By Rachel Pearlman Photography

Megan and Mike were married in a traditional church ceremony at St. John the Evangelist Church followed by a reception at the Free Library of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. “I’ve always loved the romance of winter and the playfulness of Valentine’s Day, so that influenced any aesthetic decisions I had to make,” Megan said. The bride wore a sweetheart ruffled ball gown by Pronovias, accessorized with a fur coat and velvet flats, while the groom wore a black tuxedo, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids carried rose bouquets (and heart balloons) in their long red chiffon dresses. The reception decor was based off of what the newlyweds loved most — books, damask motifs, craft brewed ales, family style foods such as chicken, potatoes, and parsnip puree, their dog Pammy. “Our family and friends are, in my opinion, some of the most fun people in the world,” she said. “That being said, we tried to make the atmosphere of our wedding one where people could relax and just be themselves.” In lieu of a guest book, they wrote well wishes on notecards, which were placed in card catalog drawers, and in lieu of a cake, there were pies and doughnuts.
