Stacey + Steve: A Classic Violet Romance by Andres Valenzuela Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

The story behind this romantic New Jersey wedding is one for the books.  Steve proposed on Thanksgiving day, while the two were traveling in New Zealand. This was very appropriate for the pair, as they count their blessings every single day.  Steve was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and spent nearly an entire year recovering. Although it was an unfathomably hard year for the couple, it really cemented their relationship. Stacey says, ‘We have just always been so grateful for every good day since his illness.’ Now, the two live in Atlanta where he works for the Atlanta Braves and she works for the PGA Tour (they are both huge sports fans)! The wedding was a celebration of life, love, and gratitude for every day. Andres Valenzuela photographed the violet-hued affair; and we’re reveling in all of the beauty and bliss.

The couple wove plenty of personal touches into the classic event.  So many of the details were thoughtfully selected with a deeper connection in mind, starting with the venue.  As sports fans, and with Stacey being an employee of the PGA Tour, it was only fitting that the couple marry at a golf course, the Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley New York.  Stacey’s Dad has sold Jack Daniels for over 30 years, so the groomsmen were gifted custom bottles of Jack!  The signature drink of the evening was called  “LiveStrong Lemonade” as a nod to LiveStrong, which gave Steve a lot of support during his battle with cancer.

Modern Romance at the Four Seasons by Michelle Lindsay Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

When a wedding planner gets hitched, you know the results are going to be extraordinary. From the candlelit ceremony to the violet and ‘hot lady pink’ color palette, Jennifer and Jamie’s glam ballroom celebration at the Four Seasons in D.C.  was filled with details that spelled modern romance.  Almost two hundred guests traveled from twenty three states to see them say ‘I do’, and they kicked off the party with glasses of pomegranate seed-garnished prosecco at the ceremony. Ace photographer Michelle Lindsay documented the fuchsia luxury with vibrancy and clarity—we can practically feel the excitement radiating off these images!

Despite living on the same street in Arlington, VA, hectic schedules kept the bride and groom from a typical courtship. She’s an event planner, and he’s a surgeon, so they got to know each other over pre-work Starbucks dates and late night walks with Jennifer’s dog Bentley. A year into the relationship, Jamie proposed in San Francisco. He had a gorgeous engagement ring for her—and a blinged-out collar for Bentley!

The couple opted for a large, party-style celebration in the city where they fell in love: Washington, DC. They married at a luxe hotel in the historic Georgetown neighborhood, and streamlined the reception to involve as few breaks from music and dancing as possible. As an event planner, Jennifer loves the drama of colored lighting, and worked with A2Z Music Factory to turn the Four Seasons ballroom the perfect shade of pink. Another favorite detail of the bride’s: the textured rosette table linens, which felt as luxurious as they looked.

Old World Elegance: A Real Wedding by Agape Planning + Lin & Jirsa
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Wendy and Michael are both lawyers, living in London.  After getting engaged in his parent’s garden in New Jersey, they knew that there was a challenge ahead of them. While living abroad and with family on opposite coasts,  they wondered how in the world they would plan a wedding that reflected them as a couple!   On a visit to to the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, California, the Rose Garden reminded them of their strolls through Hyde Park together while the East Room had an East Coast/European feel to it.  It couldn’t have been more fitting! The couple booked Ashley from Agape Planning and Lin & Jirsa and a day of old world elegance ensued… Wendy was thrilled to have her closest family in tow to help select her Judd Waddell gown from Erin Cole.  The satin fabric and classic beading reminded them of her grandmother’s dress.  The couple loved every bit of the planning process: the tastings, the breaks from the chilly London weather, taking engagement photos in Laguna Beach (complete with photos in the red London phone booth in Laguna Village), and bonding with their loved ones and amazing vendors.  The rose garden looked absolutely idyllic.  They were married under a breathtaking chuppah adorned with roses and crystals; Inviting Occasion couldn’t have designed more perfect florals in the sapphire, violet, and dusty rose palette.  After a cocktail hour of sushi and libations,  the celebration moved into the East Room, which was transformed with candelabras, awe-inspiring centerpieces, mood lighting and flowers galore. A Very Violet European Wedding by Branco Prata
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

This week’s real wedding of the week will sweep you off to coastal city, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.  There, Sandra and Juan married in a sophisticated, dreamy celebration filled with shades of violet, plum, amethyst and deep pinks.  The couple entrusted their vision to the Portuguese dream team: Sofia and André of Branco Prata, who designed and captured the day with utter style! Sandra is a biomedical engineer; Juan is a super smart computer guy.  Both have self-proclaimed geek streaks, and they really wanted to celebrate that aspect of their connection amidst all the romance and sophistication.   During the ceremony at the beautiful Monastery Serra do Pilar, Juan offered Sandra a robot, and she offered him a small rooster symbolizing a  Portuguese folk story. They also opted to send not one, but two sets of invites: fancy ones for the family (pictured above) and computer-inspired ones for friends!

The reception at Real Companhia Velha, a restored wine warehouse, was a modern floral haven.  Incredible florals were absolutely everywhere!

The evening just wasn’t complete without a glam rhinestone-studded cake and geek-chic pacman cupcakes!
