Amber and Aaron were married at the Bott Cott Family Lakeside Cottage in Lake Leelanau, Mich. on September 20. The bride looked lovely in a fitted lace gown with a keyhole back and cowboy boots. Her hair was curled to one side and adorned with a sunflower. Her ‘maids donned short dresses in various shades of blue with different necklines, which they picked out themselves. “This was a challenge because they are all spread out across the U.S., but the colors and textures just seemed to work perfectly,” Amber said of their attire. The groom and his men opted for a more casual, laid-back look by donning jeans, white button down shirts, and tan and brown vests. The pair tied the knot on the lawn of the groom’s family cottage, which was built by the groom’s great-grandfather. “When we were choosing where to have our wedding, it just seemed like the right place,” Amber said of the venue. “We wanted a place where we could start our lives together and then go back year after year to visit and even take our children some day.”  100 guests looked on as they exchanged vows under a wooden arch adorned with sunflowers and greenery. A tented reception followed and featured lots of handmade details. Guests typed a note to the newlyweds on a vintage typewriter in lieu of a traditional guestbook. Family and friends took their seats at tables with white linens and tin can sunflower centerpieces. “The location has a natural beauty all of its own, so we wanted to capture the rustic, serene lakeside with minimal decor,” Amber said of the reception. After dinner and dancing, guests indulged in a three-tier cake adorned with sunflowers, as well as cupcakes. “I had so much fun that I want to have my wedding day every day,” Amber said. Erin and Mathew were married at The Inn at Bay Harbor in Petoskey, Mich. on July 6. “From the moment of the proposal in northern Michigan, we knew we wanted to have a destination wedding in this special place where we have vacationed with family, and as a couple for the past four years,” Erin said. The bride wore a strapless tea-length wedding gown with a floral appliques, accessorized with a birdcage veil and glitter peep-toe slingbacks, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with a striped tie and Sperry Topsider boat shoes. Bridesmaids wore short satin dress in various necklines and carried bouquets of baby’s breath and dusty millers. “The ceremony was very intimate, as a great friend of ours officiated the wedding, and we were very involved in planning the entire ceremony,” she said. “I think our guests would agree with us that the best part was the ‘I love you because’ statements. Before the wedding, each of us wrote down the top 10 reasons why we loved the other, and gave it to our officiant. They were read aloud for the first time then.” In addition, there was a wine box and knot-tying too! Reception tables were decorated with navy blue linens, pink napkins, tall topiary and succulent birch slab centerpieces, and a custom favor box filled with a shot glass at each place setting. “After our introduction,we had planned the dance from Napoleon Dynamite (‘Canned Heat’) to perform, however, since we had not rehearsed for the week leading up to the wedding, the routine was far from perfect,” Erin said. “Nevertheless, it is still one of my favorite memories.” See the full board here.

Lauren and Drew were married at the groom’s parents home along the Severn River in Annapolis, Md. last spring. “We truly felt that our wedding day was not just a celebration of each other, but also for everyone who made us into the couple we are today,” Lauren said. The bride wore a v-neck mermaid wedding gown with a beaded bodice and tulle skirt, accessorized with a floral wreath in her sideswept ponytail, while the groom wore a navy blue suit, accessorized with a striped tie and pair of Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes. Bridesmaids wore short coral dresses in various fabrics and carried bouquets of hydrangeas. Believe it or not — Lauren arrived to the ceremony on a boat — and 220 guests were in attendance when the couple said their, “I do’s.” Afterwards, a bagpiper led the recessional into the tent. Tables were decorated with gray linens and tall floral centerpieces, signature spiked lemonade and watermelon mojito cocktails and seafood fare were served, and crab mallet favors were at each place setting. There even was fun, games, (and candy) for the kids! Notice the goodie bags? A long night of dancing with provided flip flops ended with a sparkler send off and safe travels to their African safari honeymoon. See the full board here.

Stephanie and Jim were married along the shores of Lake Michigan last summer. The bride wore a lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with capped sleeves, accessorized with a finger-tip length veil for the ceremony but a birdcage veil for the reception, while the groom wore dark gray suit, accessorized with a blue striped tie and pocket square. Bridesmaids got to choose their own dresses as long as they were a combination of black and white! A chalkboard arrow directed guests towards their chiavari chairs facing the birch branch canopy that served as the arch. Following the nuptials, lawn games such as cornhole were made available, family photos were displayed in honor of loved ones not present, and the hashtag #jonespartyof2 was encouraged to be used on Instagram. Reception centerpieces featured white roses, lilies, and hydrangeas surrounded by greenery atop motif linens. Very nature-inspired! The newlyweds’ danced the night away with their band performing as well as relaxed around an outdoor firepit to roast s’mores too. See the full board here.
