* Charming Red & Yellow Wedding by onelove photography

Posted on December 26th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

We just have to gush a little bit about this week’s Real Wedding

The couple, Erin and Alan, just radiates warmth and love, and their goal was to plan a charming, inviting celebration for their guests.

They married on a rustic estate outside of San Francisco… it was an incredible venue.

Sara of onelove photography documented their vintage style and priceless moments.  (Her work is amazing)!

The palette was red, yellow, and white, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The bridesmaids were glammed up in golden frocks by BHLDN and accessories by Stella and Dot.  Erin wore those cute rosy patent leather flats by Steve Madden. The day was filled with tons of stylish details like paper goods by megtab designs, mums for tossing, pennant flags, and handmade accessories for the flower girls.  A spacious setting, elegant landscaping, and Italian string lights set the stage for the reception.  The couple sourced tons of vintage décor from the Alameda Antique Show; Alan’s mom collected over 400 mason jars to use as vases and drinking glasses!

The evening ended with dancing and ice cream sandwiches!

There’s tons more to see, so check out the full feature {here}.

From the Bride: Our wedding coordinator asked us to decide on three words for our wedding so that we could focus on making decisions for our big day around those three words. We decided we wanted to have a wedding that was intimate, charming and fun.

INTIMATE: We were so excited to have our family and friends all together in one place and we wanted them to feel completely a part of our big day rather than just sitting on the sidelines.

CHARMING: We didn’t want a wedding that was formal or stuffy. We wanted it to be warm and welcoming….CHARMING!  We love the rustic, elegant look….sort of like Anthropologie… we ran with that with the old milk bottles, pepsi crates, milk tins, burlap, garden flowers, type writers and more!

FUN: We really wanted the wedding to display our personalities and not be too uptight because our goal was just to have a fun celebration with all the people we love. When things started to get stressful, we tried to ask ourselves ‘are we having fun? Will this make the wedding more fun or does it really matter?’

Favorite things/moments:

The venue is a family friend’s home and she was SO gracious to open her home to us for our wedding. We are in love with the place and feel so honored.

My cousin Stacie made the flower girl belts and baskets, ring bearer boutonniere & pillow, and my garter. SHE IS AMAZING!

I love that our guests threw mums down the aisle at us after we were announced husband and wife.

We collected a lot of the décor from the Alameda Antique Show. There were so many vintage things there. One item was an old easel that we hung all the seating assignments on and wrote “Please take a seat.”

My Grammie and Mom made all of our burlap runners and my Grammie made all of our pennant flags : )

My boss’s dad is a bee keeper and provided all the honey favors. We made tags for the honey that said “Meant to bee.”

I loved our sparkler exit. We found them in our friend’s garage and it was all very last minute, but am sooo glad we used them!

One of our favorite parts was the ice cream sandwiches for dessert. A place in Berkeley was more than willing to fulfill this vision of having ice cream sandwiches rather than cake. We were their first wedding which was super fun and they did GREAT! Our guests loved them!

I got most of my ideas from Pinterest. I ordered some things from Etsy too - - the guy’s bowties, socks, ring bearer bowtie, guestbook, and more!

* Sophisticated Purple + White Wedding by Skye Blu Photography

Posted on December 6th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

This wedding is, bar none, one of the most sophisticated modern weddings we’ve seen in a long while.   Sky Events stayed true to Denise and Joseph’s style when planning the day; the décor was absolutely exquisite!  A special thanks to Skye Blu Photography for sharing Denise and Joseph’s wedding… what a visually sumptuous treat for a Tuesday morning….
Every detail of the ceremony was carefully designed, from the abundant floral archway to the hard cover wedding programs.  Floating glass ornaments, each holding a single orchid, provided a very fairytale-like backdrop for the vows.  The reception was completely breathtaking… from the dramatic lighting to the décor by Sky Flowers . We’re especially loving the submerged florals.  Enjoy all this lilac, lavender and fuchsia gorgeous-ness…

So, so beautiful.

Congratulations Denise & Joseph!

The Engagement & Wedding Story, told by the bride, Denise:

‘It was our first Christmas together in our apartment in Valencia. We both love Christmas so our house was fully decorated – stockings filled with goodies, holiday candies and cookies all over the place, and a beautiful Christmas tree! I am a notorious early riser so when I woke up at 6:30 a.m. on Christmas morning, I didn’t think much of it. Then Joe woke up a little after 7 a.m., which is highly unlike him but I thought maybe he was just excited for the gifts I got him. Lucky for me, that meant we got to open our gifts early! YAY! We made breakfast and sat next to our tree and gave each other our gifts. It then came time for us to open our “big” gifts. He wanted me to go first. I unwrapped a sweater sized box and in it was a note that contained a riddle sending me into the master bedroom. I went into the master bedroom and found another note that lead me to the kitchen. From the kitchen, I got a note telling me to go into our office. When I got to the office, I couldn’t find another note. I looked and looked and finally I said I didn’t know where it was. He blamed the dogs for playing with it, knelt down under his desk and turned around. When I looked over at him, he was on his knee with the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen and he asked me to marry him! I immediately burst into tears and hugged him. I was so overwhelmed, I didn’t know if I was supposed to put the ring on or say yes or keep crying and then he asked me if that meant yes and I said “of course… yes, yes, yes.”

On the day of the wedding, when we saw the  ceremony site and reception ballroom, it felt just like ‘us,’ our style… it exuded everything I hoped for and more.  Everything was transformed and there were personal, romantic touches everywhere… monogrammed cloth napkins, lavender throughout and a dance floor with custom appliques identical to the invitations.’

* Rustic & Heartfelt Outdoor Celebration

Posted on October 31st, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

This week’s real wedding is just so special.  The photos emanate such a divine love… and all of the planning revolved around the connection that Tessa and John share with their loved ones.  The bride said, ‘Once we found that center it was easy to let some traditional elements go and not feel pressured by trends. This allowed us the freedom to create a totally unique and intimate event for our guests.’  The day overflowed with organic beauty and rustic sophistication, and was captured in both digital and film photographs by Michelle Warren.

There is so much more of this gorgeous earthen palette to enjoy!… See the full story {here}.

Happy Friday!  Hope you’re headed to the beach or somewhere fun for the weekend.  Here at Project Wedding, we’re musing about this super fabulous, vintage nautical dessert spread that Kaylee Eylander sent over to us.   The delicious and oh-so-creative baked goods were designed by the talented team at Jenny Cookies. * Lovely Little Birds

Lovebird themed weddings have been super popular this year; we’re particularly smitten with how Diana and Michael incorporated this sweet motif into their lively winter wedding at the Calamigos Equestrian. Below, we’ve chosen some of our favorite feathered details of the day, but you can catch the full story {here}.

* A Garden Party

Posted on January 3rd, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Meagan and Jared had such a sweet wedding and they incorporated tons of neat ideas. The couple celebrated with a back yard reception filled with handcrafted elements- like doily bunting and pretty DIY centerpieces. The bridesmaids all wore the same skirt with their choice of an ivory blouse- the result was adorable! The decor was filled with natural greenery, white florals, and pops of orange.  At the end of the evening, Meagan and Jared rode off on their brand new bicycles to a bed and breakfast a few blocks away!  Enjoy the highlights, and click here to see the full feature.  All photos by Natalie Neal

* Real Wedding: Candice + Jared

Posted on October 11th, 2010 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Happy Monday to you!  We have a fresh, pretty outdoor Real Wedding for you today…

Candice and Jared wanted a ‘backyard wedding’ feel to their day, but needed a larger venue than their own back yard.  They wed and celebrated at The Clarke Estate in Santa Fe Springs, California.  Vanessa of V3 Weddings and Events did such a fabulous job creating a romantic reception space… The color palette of the day was purple, grey, and white and was woven throughout the day with expert style.   See the full feature here.

I just love the birdcage design on the paper goods and the eclectic mix of succulent and floral decor.

* Real Wedding- Hanna & Seung

Posted on January 17th, 2009 by Margaret. Filed under Real Weddings.

Today’s real wedding is a romantic yet contemporary affair that took place in September in Santa Monica, CA.

These beautiful photographs were sent to me by the artistic Kristi Klemens of KLK Photography, who was there to capture the events of the day.  The contemporary color scheme of white, teal, and brown was inspired by Hanna’s experience as an interior designer .  The white walls, brown lighting fixtures, and teal floral carpet, along with the beautiful natural backdrop of the teal colored Pacific Ocean at The Sheraton Delfina turned this vision into a reality.    Congratulations to Hanna and Seung!  Below are just a sample of the gorgeous images that Kristi was able to capture on that beautiful September day.
