Hair & Make-Up! (these photos by MIL)
The morning of our wedding—with the all the ladies and gentlemen in separate quarters, we prepared for our big day. The bride & bridesmaids awoke at 5am to have a relaxing breakfast, followed by lots of hair & makeup! Each bridesmaid helped do each other’s hair & makeup, while the bride had two friends who are hair & makeup artists make her shine!

They arrived at Shadowridge Country Club at around 9:30 am to prepare for the 11am ceremony. Steven, his dad, and his groomsmen spent the morning together before arriving at the Country Club for pictures. Sheena & her bridesmaids dressed in the Bridal Suite before taking pictures together. The day could not have been more perfect! Surprised with a light sprinkle of morning rain, the skies cleared just in time for a beautiful outdoor Spring ceremony. All were cool with the lovely breeze and beautiful blue skies with vast majestic clouds.

The ceremony took place in the middle of the golf course at a secluded “secret garden-like” ceremony site—a hilltop gazebo enclosed by lush greenery and spring blooms. Preceded by family, the wedding party, and Steven’s little nephew and niece as the ring bearer and flower girl (ages 4 and 2 ½), the Bride walked down the aisle with her soon to be father-in-law (in place of the Bride’s dad in Afghanistan). The Bride, as soon as she saw her almost-husband, began tearing up as she walked down the aisle. With the beautiful sound of a harp in the background, Sheena and Steven exchanged their personally written vows, traditional vows, and rings after a short message on the meaning of marriage and prayer. They also performed a sand ceremony to symbolize their union, with white at the bottom to represent their faith as the foundation of their marriage. After the ceremony, the bride & groom spent about an hour traveling around in a golf cart for great photo backdrops. They then met back up with the wedding party for the grand entrance!

Surrounded by loved ones, Sheena & Steven celebrated their new life together with dancing and catching up with friends & family. They enjoyed many of the traditional wedding activities—the first dance, toasts, cake cutting, money dance, bouquet and garter toss, and a grand get-away. The newlyweds decided on a “family dance” in place of a father/ daughter and mother/son dance. Here, Steven danced with his mother and Sheena danced with her older brother to “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder.
Party Time! www.DomWeddings.com
As the party came to an end, our DJ asked all the guests to gather outside around the front entrance and to grab what’s on their way out. Steven & Sheena made their way for their grand exit, and were surprised with whirling bubbles created by all their loved ones. At the end of the walkway, a beautiful 1969 Pink Cadillac—a perfect end to a perfect day filled with love, laughter, and joy!
