....ENGAGED!

I am SO excited to be writing this page of my bio....

On August 24, 2011, Justin proposed to me. We were on vacation at Myrtle Beach, SC and it was a Wednesday morning - We had been having a great trip so far, but that morning was life changing. Justin and I shared the living-room which had a pull-out sofa and one of those beds that folds up into the wall, since we were vacationing with his aunt and uncle. It was about 8am probably, and I heard a phone ring in the kitchen, which woke me up. I whispered to Justin "Good morning babe", but rolled back over to go back to sleep since there was no real rush to get up (that I knew of!) ... well, Justin woke up when I spoke to him and he jumped up and started putting his sofa-bed up. I slept on the other bed, so I just closed my eyes again and didn't listen to him when he said "come on, wake up!" ... so I didn't see him disappear for a few minutes. Next thing I know, his aunt is walking through, to the balcony (we were on the 19th floor), talking about how she loves to sit out in the morning and watch people on the beach. I said good morning but was still reluctant to actually get up - until she insisted "Amanda, this is so sweet - come out here and look at this!" .... and so I crawled out of bed, still in my pjs and with my hair up in a mess of a bun, no makeup, a sight straight from a horror movie... and went to look... where I saw this:

I was so in shock, that at first I just said "oh my gosh, that's adorable!!" and started looking for a guy down on one knee somewhere on the beach or somthing. Then, after probably 15 seconds, I realized Justin was standing beside me again, getting down on his knee, with a ring box in his hand. "Well, will you marry me?" he asked. I gasped, put my hands up to my mouth, and shouted "OH MY GOD ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!" ... I honestly didn't say anything else for a couple minutes. I was laughing, crying, and freaking out all at once. It was an insane feeling. Then Justin's phone rang - his uncle, who had written the words in the sand, was down stairs and asked "Well, what did she say?" (evidently people had crowded around him down on the beach and were waiting to hear my response - ha!) to which Justin replied "I don't know, she hasnt said ANYTHING yet!" ... and of course then I realized he was right, I hadn't answered him ... so I said "Yes, yes, yes, of course I'll marry you! But you could have at least let me brush my hair!"

It was completely unexpected (I knew we had talked about it and figured he would propose at some point in the coming year, but this particular day it caught me completely off guard), but I wouldn't change a thing about it. <3

We staged a couple pictures inside, after I took my hair down and halfway combed it... just because the camera refused to work out on the humid balcony. So here are a few pictures... of us in the room, us on the beach, and of course, the ring (which is not huge and flashy, but is EXACTLY what I wanted. I told him, it's the absolute perfect ring for me!) :)
