Time to update!

Wow...I've really been lax about posting here....but we've been really busy!  There's been alot of changes at our boutique, and we've just been overwhelmed with the responses.  So here's what's been happening:

1.  We watched that show..."I found the Gown".  We noticed the response from our brides...they are definitely looking for a bargain!  So, we created a section in our store called "THE Dress for Less".   This section contains discontinued samples, and even brand new gowns that we found at great prices!  They are all drastically reduced...and the brides LOVE the prices!  Why risk ordering a chinese gown when you can get a name brand for the same...or even less?

2.  We ordered a chinese gown.  As much as I hated to do it...I had to.  I had to show people the difference in a knock off versus the real deal.  I went on a well known site, and looked for the seller with the best feedback.  I ordered the gown, a Lazaro copy a size 10.  I even sent them the exact Lazaro measurements.  Well, a package arrived, and it was tiny.  Too tiny in fact.  I opened it...and it was a bunch of headbands.  I contacted the seller, and after a few weeks, the package was found in Australia.  It finally arrived, not in a box, but a padded mailer.  I opened it up, and of course, it was exactly as I expected.  The gown was a size 4...well...a lopsided 4.  There's no structure at all in the bodice, so the weight of the gown pulls down the bodice so you can see the lining.  The skirt of the gown was supposed to be layers of tulle...which I thought would be quite easy to replicate.  Ummm...guess not.  It was a cheap organza with finished ends...and looked nothing like the picture.  The beading was silver lace with a few silver sequins on crystals.  The belt was supposed to be was slate blue.  Need I go on?  We keep the gown in a bag...and show it to brides when they mention the chinese gowns.  Sigh...chinese gowns make me angry.  I hate seeing people get taken.  I know some brides don't have a bit of problem, but they don't see how many we get in our store...frantically shopping at the last minute, buying another gown because the one they ordered is unwearable.

3.  We switched lines in our store.  We realize brides are looking for quality, but at a great price.  So we looked through all the lines and decided to go with Casablanca.  They carry 3 price points of gowns.  There's the regular line, which everyone is familiar with, the CB Couture, which is more spendy, and the Diamond Line, that's their private label.  We've really had some great responses to the Diamond Line.  They are all under $1000.00...some retail as low as $600.  You won't find pictures of the Diamond  They are only available in store.

4.  We added more Wtoo Wedding Gowns, and Bridesmaids.  Wtoo has some of the cutest bridesmaids dresses in the business, some of them are available in white and make excellent destination wedding gowns.  We also loved the 2013 wedding gown collection from Wtoo.  They had a gorgeous selection of lace gowns, it was hard to choose!

5.  We are really excited about adding Maggie Sottero.  We've had alot of requests for their gowns, and had talked about it the last couple of years.  The collection for 2013 was soooo pretty, we decided it was time to do so.  The gowns are starting to arrive, and they are gorgeous!  My personal favorite is Divina...we just received it in a soft ivory.  It's soooo pretty!

6.  We are hosting our very first bridal show!  This is something we've wanted to do since we started, and it's time for us to do so.   We're doing a "high end" show and asking all our vendors to pull out all the stops when designing their booth.  We've gone crazy on the fashion show, creating a play/fashion show featuring our current "Miss Bella Sera" Cassie Alaniz.  It's going to be great...we're so excited!  I'll post pictures later!
