30 Day Shred

Hello ladies!!

I just found this gem of a group and thought to myself: self, this is another great way to make yourself accountable!

I spend a lot of time at the gym running and biking mostly but I find I'm never sore the next day and although the pounds are apparently dropping (down 11 pounds) I don't see a difference. I went out yesterday and bought Jillian Michaels ever so famous 30 Day Shred DVD and today was day 1!!

So I want to post here that I'm doing it so I have more people to keep me acocuntable for following through. I did take before pictures, as well as measurements, so at the end of the 30 days I want to post those (although I don't think you're gonna want to see them).

Anyone else done it? Have any wisdom and motivation to share?? :D

I've done ripped in 30, all though with school I'm only able to do the videos 3 days a week. I used to do an hour on an elliptical 3-4 days a week and hadn't lost any weight in over a year after starting ripped in 30 I've lost 3 lbs which I thought was pretty good with only doing it 3 days a week.

Right now I'm doing 6 week six pack (also 3 days a week) and I always feel the pain during, after and the next day.

I'm sure if I ate a little better and increased my days I'd have even better results.

Jennifer - I totally understand it being difficult with school! That's why the whole 20 minutes deal was so appealing to me! Currently I spend 2 hours a night at the gym and that's not working so well with my school work haha. And congrats on loosing 3 lbs!! That's awesome! Good luck with 6 week 6 pack! Now that I know you're doing it I want updates! :)

Candace - That sounds like a great idea! I did day 1 yesterday and then today...well I'm not walking so well. :D I decided to skip today and give my muscles a recovery day and then I'll do day two tomorrow. And I would love to have a partner in fitness crime! Did you do day 1 yet?? You better have.....

It seriously kicks your butt, huh? I also forgot to mention I didn't have hand weights during ripped in 30, I was using water bottles and elastic bands. Weights make it an even harder work out!

So after reading this post I decided to give it a shot myself. I have 46 days left until my wedding and the whole 2 hours in the gym a day really wasn't working well for me. I just completed day one and I feel like I have been worked a whole lot more than when I go to the gym! If it helps to encourage any of you I had googled the 30 day shred and found some blogs talking about it. I particularly liked this story and thought I would share. This blogger went through the whole challenge and blogged about it each week. Overall she lost 10 lbs without changing her eating habits! She said that she really felt it in her thighs and waist (can we say the target area?)

She then went on to do the ripped in 30 program and here are the results so far from that...

So after reading this photo 3338408-1

I don't know about you ladies but I found this pretty encouraging! I want to be as healthy as possible for my husband.

Stick to it ladies I know we can do it!

Phelpsym33 - I googled it too and looked at so many blogs and that's what made me sure that it was worth the whole 10 dollars it costs to get her dvd! I could hardly believe some of the results people were getting. Then I tried the DVD and it all made sense, hahaha. I'm so excited you are joining us on the 30DS challenge! I can't wait to hear all about your results.

Candace - WAY TO GO! How many days have you done now?!?

Jennifer - I didn't have weights either so I used soup cans, hahaha! I did it today with my mom and she actually owns weights so I did it with 5 lb. weights and man that made a big difference!

As for my progress, I was so sore the two days after that I could barely walk.... :)

Work has been buggering up my workouts as well. I do 12 hour days (and I'm on my feet the whole time running around the unit and helping lift patients) so by the time I get home I am so exhausted that I can't even get my butt off the couch. So I ashamed to say that I have only completed two days. I did day two today with my mom (who is running a marathon next month) and I did better than she did! So having just done it once did make a huge difference, and I've got her hooked on it now too.

Day three- WOWZA I am sore!! Yesterday I had a class that was 4 hours long. Half way through I had to get up to give presentation and my muscles had tightened so bad it took me a good thirty seconds to stand up! Dang my legs are sore... but I am starting to see a difference. I am getting back some of the tone I had in HS which is awesome. I can't believe that 25 minute workout could do this! Especially after spending 2 hours a day in a gym. I have rediscovered muscles I completely forgot about!

I was excited today because I could do the one cross over crunch from abs circut 2 and 3 today! Usually I have a hard time with that one because my asthma decides it doesn't like it. I felt triumphant when I did it!

Has anyone else experienced a moment where they defeated what felt like an impossible segment?

Keep going ladies!!! We can do this!

I worked a lot of shifts this week (I know - I'm full of excuses) so I did day three today! I found it was so tough to get through, I just didn't want to be doing it! DH and I do a lot of trail biking and today it is finally nice enough outside to hit some trails so that is what I would way rather be doing but I told myself we can't set the bikes up until I do my 30DS. It worked, anyways, and I did it! :P

I also don't think I'm going to push to do this everyday because muscles definitely need recovery time, so I'm going to shoot for 3-4 days a week (work permiting).

phelpsym - Yay!! Day three!! The bicycle crunches at the end KILL ME. Especially because back in HS when I did long distance running and Kung Fu I had pretty nice abs and now they're gone and I can't stand not being able to do what I used to be able to do! Also the first cardio set makes me want to lie down and cry - it's so much jumping! But when you push through you feel so darn good. :) And that's awesome that you're seeing changes!

davidslilprncs - DO IT. That's all I have to say. Oh, and come back and tell us how it's going and how much you hurt. :)

Candace - I am awaiting a progresss report. Don't make me come after you!

OMG I have come down with the worst cold in the world. I think its a mix of stress over upcoming finals and the wedding being in 37 days. It has totally destroyed my ability to breathe. I really want to work out but my FI is insistant that I wait until I am recovered and feeling better. I am really trying to change my mindset about this being the equivalent to being lazy. This is not good!
