It is on the lower end price range but I don't think it's unheard of. I have a package deal with my vendor, 1st Class DJs where it's an extra $499 for a DOC and that's including rehearsal coordination. It's one of the lower ones I found because the average prices I got where from $650-800 and it's not even for the whole day.

It depends on your location. In Northern California the going rate was about 1K for the day. That's based on the 4 coordinators I met with. I would also check into how long they are contracted to stay. I've heard DOC's leaving after the cake is cut and not staying to help clean, per their contract.

I would say that $495 is the lower end. I interviewed about 6 DOCs and their prices were between $800-6000 for DOC services. Yes, $6000 for day of services. You have to ask about details about what they do for you. i.e. Will they have an assistant who looks after you as well or are they just a side-kick to do heavy lifting? Will they be just looking over the vendors, will they help you work out the finer details?? And Soon2BWilcox brings up an important question... are they going to stay until you leave to tend to YOUR every need.

Yes, that's on the low low end. Speaking from experience, a day-of coordinator is the best money you'll spend, hands down. Meg

I disagree with the DOC investment everybody seems to be proposing. We didn't get a DOC and asked my husband's aunt to play DOC in case anything was needed - and she had absolutely nothing to do...I am so glad we didn't spend $1K on something that was not needed at all.

Some people don't want their family or guests to work their wedding.

And some people has a lot of diy to display. Its all on how much details you did on your own that's not covered by a vendor and that's where a doc comes into play.

Meg, nobody had to work...that's the point. DH's aunt was actually bummed she didn't have anything to do but I was nervous by the Knot and other boards of absolutely needing a DOC...turned out it wasn't true for us.

Myfiancesbrave, that's a good point. Our vendors did everything so we didn't have to do a lot...our caterer did all the table set up, including guest book, polaroid camera, favors etc.

I've heard of $495. It's true that it's on the low end though.

Wow, $495.00 for a day of wedding coordinator?? Too bad Porfiria is in New York!! I cringe at the thought of having to pay $1000 dollars for a coordinator! If you break it down, that's about $200+ dollars an hour! I really don't know yet if it is worth it, but it would be nice to not have to worry about anything on our wedding day.

Does anyone know of any coordinators in the Southern California area who do not charge an arm and a leg for day of wedding coordination!?!? The cheapest I've found thus far was about $800.

Porfiria told me that 495.00 was a price just for the "Day of" during off peak season. But I am still happy I got that price . My grilfriend told me that she call a Brooklyn Planner and they qoute her 12,000 Full service for 100 guest.
